I only go in the woods to check cams every 3 weeks, otherwise I stay out. I go middle of the day. I only bring SD cards and batteries and my digital camera, that's it. Of course I'm in scent free clothes and sprayed down before I go in.

for me the most important thing is time..  Seems harder and hard to get  time to scout..

I do most of my scouting in winter/spring time to understand the subtle changes from year to year..  I believe you can learn a lot more about main travel coridors and bedding areas when there is a bit of snow on the ground..

Things change so much between now and mid season, that you have to be careful of being misgiuded by what you see today..

I glass from the road before I pull in. Once Im in, binos stay in the truck. Right now we are in food plot/property maintenance mode, the patterns will change soon and scouting will start a bit. When I do scout, I have my phone (camera, take notes, maps) and SD cards/keys for locks if Im checking cams. I will sometimes carry a folding saw if I think I might need it.

I have a backpack that has certain items in it that I never take out (first aid kit, compass, fire starter, paracord, leatherman, GPS, extra batteries, flash light that uses the same batteries).  So whenever I head out into the woods for anything, I grab that bag, throw in a bottle of water, a pair of binos, and some snacks and I'm good to go.

I have gone out once so far this

year and think I packed waaay to

much bringing my dog kinda

helped cause he had a pack.

After I realized I took a bunch of

stuff I didn’t need so I have it down

to this now and im going out again

this week.

Poncho

First aid Kit

2 meals plus 2 snacks

GPS / Maps / Extra batteries

Headlamp plus small flashlight

Light weight tarp

Water filtration system (and tablets

just in case)

Bear bell I found at walmart, last

time we didn’t start hiking out till

the sun went down and there are

bears where I go

Will be adding thumb tacks and

doing my scent control for the next

round. Forgot about that last time

got just enough time to wash it and

hang it outside for a few days
