Salmon running?

I'm walking off the olcott piers right now not even a bite a group of guys where pulling two females off but the entire time I was there not a single fish

I fished the ball park from sun up till about 5am and  killed em! went to the ice box till dark and fish were piling in, uncle went to snake island and the ice box this morning and they killed em also, fish are on there way up! ill be there every weekend till bow season!

Fished this afternoon, river is full of salmon right up to Altmar, unbelievable I fished by myself and the closest guy was 100 yards plus away.

Fished lower black tonight and dud alright hooked up prolly 60 times all,day landed 3, by buddy landed 5 we both came home with our limits so id say,overall good day, ton of fish there but the best has yet to come I believe,

They are very large in size as well.  Every hookup was nothing short of a big fish.  I personally do not keep any.  Living on this river my whole life you lose the taste for these things in a hurry lol.

My brother caught 11 last night on a boat off the olcott piers. Took 6 females home with him and his buddy

i hoked 20 in about 3 hours last Sunday. the salmon are in, coho's, browns, and steelies starting to enter the estuary as well

I don't fish the rivers, but can confirm that the great fishing on lake ontario this year has shut down for the most part.

Whats everyone using this year to kill em. I used a egg sack and small hook under a float and seemed to do the trick last year.

 

I'm hearing a lot of nice browns are getting caught as well.

By whos standards?  I would be hard pressed to call Columbus day weekend anything close to the best weekend for steelhead fishing on the Salmon.  I wouldnt even rank it in the top 20 best weekends for steelhead fishing.  Not only is there very limited number of steelhead in the river then but its the most packed weekend on the river all year, neck to neck fishermen.  You want the top 8 best weekends for steelhead fishing start with the first one in January.
