Just an update - I do love the Maven's so far.

I just ordered some Hawke Frontier EDX 8x42… military discount came out to just around $400… they won birding bino of the year so I figure that translates to a good woods hunting performance

I've researched binoculars in this price range a lot. If I were to buy one, I would buy the night vission.  One thing the Viper has that most other binoculars at that price don't is a locking diopter. Here is a review of the night vission you might find interesting.

I sat on the south edge of a field on Sunday morning. The north end is about 450 yards away. I was happy with how much and how well I could see. Inside the woods has been real thick still so this was my first chance to really test them out.

I am a Bushnell man when it comes to binoculars, they have worked well for me down through the years, The "Legend" models in different sizes are the ones I like best.
