We have a horse farm and almost every evening, there will be deer out in the pasture with the horses..  In fact there are often times that we will go out to get the horses and will be leading them in and if you put the horse between you and the deer as you walk, you can get within 10 yards of the deer no problem..

 

I have seen this technique actually used for hunitng the open plains out west..

pansies, they are just warts on the skin, doesnt affect the meat. Bob, Ill take any venison from a warty deer if you shoot it.

That is why I passed onthe two I saw. I wasn't going to eat in. The one property I hunt had one doe the owner called "Donut" because of the donut shaped one on her side. Looked just like and innner tube about 6" in diameter.

I was thinking a large woods or dog tick on it until I enlarged the view.  Not a bad looking deer otherwise. My wife and kids would be skeezed out by those growths.

He needs to fatten up ...... you can see his ribs .  Ribs ? Did I say ribs ? That might be appealing to one of our members !

I figured he would be filled-in by gun season, but not too big for a long drag out.  Already has two nice handles to grab him by.

Most of the time I am out by myself and may be a mile in.  I don't want a monster deer to drag that far and then load up.
