Hi, everyone. I have a question for a long time. When you are going a long trip, hiking, or camping, what items do you use to keep your phones or some other digital devices charged when running out of power?  Some of my friends say they are using external battery chargers. I really don't like my phone get switched off due to lack of charge. Have you owned an external charger, which brand is better? Do you think whether it is useful for camping or hiking?

Charges iphone, samsung and any other usb chargable device. Adds up to two full charges for iphone. Works great!

If I'm in the woods, my flip phone is off, period. I only carry it in case of some emergency that I need help. People are WAY too attached to their "smart" phones and texting.

Same here. I have a smart phone but I turn it off when I park the car. I carry it only for emergency.

I bought two extra batteries and I charge them and take them with me.  I have never used any of the chargers you asked about.

 

Yes, extra batteries are also very useful, have the same effect with external battery chargers. External battery chargers(or power bank) hold larger power capacity, once fully charged, they can charge phone many times.

Finnally, after many searches and comparisons, I got this one: RAVpower battery pack. With larger power capacity and easy carry, it can charge my iphone 6-7 times before it dies. Really a nice product. If someone has the same need, you can try it out.

i have this great hand held external battery source. My mom got it on QVC and it can charge 2 i phones at the same time or even an ipad and phone at once. i can get multiple charges on one charge for the battery source and it hold a full charge for 8 months if not in use. 

 

i just got it this year and usually when i get out of the woods at the end of the day my phone is usually dead or on its way out so this keeps me charged... its in my pack as we speak.
