Five Seasons
So I have a question. When bow hunting, when it gets light and you realize there's a turkey roosting in a tree near you; can you shoot it? Part 2. Would you?
Uncle Nicky
Comes down to a question of ethics again; in NY it's legal to shoot a turkey on the roost (it's not legal in many states). Provided you have a turkey license, the season is open, and are good enough to take a kill shot in a tree with a bow, then you are not breaking any rules. Would I? No. I'd shoot one with a shotgun out of a tree though, and I know a lot of turkey hunters won't shoot one on the roost under ANY conditions. PooperScooper
I had a chance to do this yesterday. I thought about it...and then thought I was crazy for even thinking about it. Maybe if it were a shorter tree. ...like 3 feet high.

ATbuckhunter
I wouldn't only because I don't want to loose the arrow. If the turkey was roosted on a tree below my stand then i would probably shoot since i would know the direction the arrow went.
landtracdeerhunter
I'd take a tom with my bow, only because I never have. It would be more ethical for me, not to shoot it off the roost
sidewinder
when i was a teenager i shot at a turkey during the fall season while it was up in a tree. i aimed at the head/neck area just like you would if the turkey was on the ground. when you are picking wood chips out of the bird that you are planning on eating................ only took me but one time to figure out why they say......... if ya want to shoot it while its sitting on that branch go right ahead........ NOPE ill pass and wait till it is on the ground.
