Trump vs Biden and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Recommended Posts

As gas prices hit $5 a gallon earlier this summer, Joe Biden pretended to combat spiking oil prices by opening the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), draining the stockpile down to 434 million barrels, the lowest it's been since 1984. Due to other factors entirely, the price of oil has dropped and the average price of gas at the pump is now $3.69 per gallon. The Biden administration now says it will begin purchasing oil to refill the SPR when the price, currently at $85 per barrel, drops to $80 per barrel. All this could have been avoided.

Flashback to early 2020, when Donald Trump sought to stabilize the oil industry in the face of the pandemic by buying up oil at $24 per barrel and adding it to the SPR. Democrats at the time objected and blocked the measure within the stimulus package, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer bragging that they had prevented a "bailout for big oil." Some bailout. Now the Biden administration will be spending nearly four times as much per barrel to refill the SPR, which would have never dipped this low in the first place had Democrats not blocked Trump. Now, thanks to the Democrats' nearsighted political concerns, it's costing taxpayers even more.

I have some bad news to report, and it's going to make you mad. You may recall that over the summer, Joe Biden visited the Middle East to beg the Saudis to increase oil production. There's a lot wrong with that sentence. The United States has stricter environmental standards than the Saudis, so increasing production over there is less environmentally friendly than doing it in the United States. Increased production in Saudi Arabia would also lead to more jobs for Saudis, not American workers. Furthermore, more foreign production makes us more dependent on other countries for our national security.

Today the Saudis made a decision on Biden's request, and their answer was to cut production by 2 million barrels a day instead of increasing it like Biden had asked for. It gets worse. Biden's been draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) by nearly a million barrels a day in an attempt to blunt the impact of HIS administration's policies that are directly responsible for fuel prices spiking. His decision to do this has drained the SPR to a dangerous 40-year low, and essentially taken it off the table as a future option, weakening our national security in the process. You may also recall that when President Trump was in office, he proposed purchasing oil at record LOW prices to fill up the SPR which would have strengthened our national defense, but was blocked from doing so by Chuck Schumer. Now Biden is faced with the decision of buying back oil to refill the SPR at higher prices than what he sold it for. Economics lesson for Democrats: Buying High and Selling Low will make you broke very quickly.

There's also the question of why the Saudis and OPEC decided to cut production in the first place? Because they know we no longer have a government that is willing to do what it takes to counter them. During the Trump Administration, if OPEC had cut production, the United States could simply have increased supply. Because of Joe Biden, that's no longer the case. We can no longer counter OPEC's market manipulation, so they are back at their old game.

Americans are suffering enough. Record high inflation coupled with record high gas prices.

Joe Biden is destroying this country.

Don't forget those World Economic Forum types in Davos, plotting to ruin us also. Creepy Joe is just playing with his crayons with Jill baby.

Biden was a draft dodging coward.  He does not care about our Americans.  Look at his “exit” from Afghanistan.  Look at his disrespect for our deceased military members when instead of staying at attention he looked at his watch!  Look at how he delayed sending sufficient military aid to Ukraine to fight one of America’s historically worst enemies Russia.  Russia most notably aided our enemies in North Korea and North Vietnam to help kill and injure my brothers and sisters.  Russia was pure evil in what they did in both World War I and II against America and her allies.  But Biden was a draft dodging coward not wanting to fight communism.  Is it Russian collision?

I am trying to imagine an exit strategy for Russia in Ukraine, that does not end in Nuclear Armageddon, but coming up empty.  I wonder if our (4) resident leftists will admit that they made a mistake in voting for Biden, when they feel the thunder and see the approaching mushroom clouds ?

At this point, our best hope lies in a Republican retaking of the legislative branch, thru a purge of Democrats of historic proportions, in the upcoming midterms.   The Republicans would be well advised to use lots of recent footage of Biden and Harris talking about how they have been “fixing” things, for their campaign advertising.  Roll that in with footage of the southern border situation and food prices at the local grocery stores.

At least there are no more mean tweets.

Send me a pm when the missiles are on their way.

I am sure Trump would have prevented all of this through his brilliant diplomacy and we all would be rich by now too.

Joe Biden is releasing an additional 15 million barrels of oil from the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In what amounts to a desperate attempt to project the appearance that he's pulling out all the stops to combat rising gas prices, now averaging $3.85 per gallon, Biden hopes to lessen the growing political headwinds Democrats face with the midterm elections less than a month away.

Meanwhile, Biden's draining of the SPR that began in March will have decreased the reserve by 180 million barrels (with this latest 15 million included), bringing the total reserve down to 400 million barrels, the lowest it's been since 1984. Now that Biden's anti-fossil fuel policies are promising negative political impact to his party, his administration is spinning the blame for high fuel costs onto Saudi Arabia, Russia, and U.S. oil producers' alleged greed. Nevertheless, even as Biden attacks America's fossil fuel producers by denying permits and ending the Keystone XL pipeline, he calls on them to ramp up their production to help offset higher fuel prices.

As American Petroleum Institute senior vice president Frank Macchiarola observes, "If [Biden administration officials] continue to offer the same old so-called solutions, they'll continue to get the same old results." And those results are Americans having to pay more at the pump and to heat their homes. Hopefully the coming red wave grows into a tsunami.

Still hate Trump?  See a shrink.
