First-light
Years ago while bowhunting I shot a 6pt. The arrow deflected and I did not see where I hit the deer. The deer reared up on it hind legs, hit the ground and then staggered off. I got down and found the arrow. It was bent at probably the 8" mark from the broadhead and only had blood on the fletchings. Blood covered all the fletchings but none on the arrow or broadhead. I had no blood to track either. After looking for hours for this deer I did find a small puddle of blood a few hundred feet from where I shot it but never recovered the deer. I can't figure this one out, can you? nybuckboy
that's a mystery... unless somehow the arrow turned 180 degrees and the nock end penetrated the deer and he then shook it out. Another thought... you say it reared up. Then I might think the arrow hit the ground under the deer and the deer reared up an on to the arrow enough to penetrate the abdomen/pelvic area or maybe a leg with the nock. That might explain th bent arrow as well.

First-light
No blood on the nock just fletchings. The arrow wasn't stuck in the ground when I found it. I like your thoughts, could of been a clean miss and the deer came down on the arrow. The more I think about it, I bet you that is what happened. Thanks Guys! I owe you a beer! Doewhacker
I think its more likely that one of two things happened, or a combination of the two, the choices are magic or elves...you pick. I think it was magic elves myself.
First-light
See if those magic elves deliver beer!
Doewhacker
Usually you only see them after consuming to much beer.
gundeck
I think the elves only make cookies (and drink umbrella drinks). Dwarves would be the beer guys. Anyway, Burt, that is quite a dilemma. The funny thing is that ANYTHING can happen when hunting. We have all seen some pretty strange happenings. My guess is you will never really know what happened. nyantler
I think the 180 theory is probably the best too
