I was recently given a last warning for disruption of other people's threads, so I'm left with creating my own instead of "crapping" on others, as a mod would call it. I hope I'm not violating any of your rules this time, mighty moderator.

Now, I'm not going to win any popularity contests around these woods, I've had my fair share of heated discussions with some(many) of you. That's fine, because through many of those discussions, I've met some I would consider really good people. People I would hunt with and share stories with.

What this thread is about, is how I feel about the policies and enforcement of this site, HuntingNY as a forum. I haven't been a part of this forum nearly as long as some of you, and my hunch is that many of you already know one another from a previous site.

I've complained and mentioned in the past of my dissatisfaction with how a certain mod conduct himself and the selective enforcement that goes on. So it was no surprise that I was given a warning for trying to keep the forum a little more organized by the same mod. Could I have approached it differently, probably. But instead of a thank you, I was called an ass. How many ways can you skin a cat?(Larry, feel free insert racist/stereotypical comment here).

In a private discussion, I made an accusation that no one other than Biz R O was banned(time out) since by this mod. He was publicly banned(announced). That is the one and only known disciplinary action taken by this mod that I know of since. Since Biz' banning, I've seen multiple infractions of the rules of this forum and have done my duty as a member to report them. No action was taken that I know of. I asked for the names of those banned since, and was denied of those names. If you've been banned(timed out) since Biz' incident, please speak out! Probably wishful thinking on my part, ghosts can't speak.

I fully understand that this is a privately owned forum, and the owner and his moderators can do as they please. I also understand the work and effort put into operating and running a forum, and appreciate the time the owner and mods put in. With that said, I also understand a great forum cannot be impartial to its rules and enforcement. I am new to hunting, and I have learned quite a lot from forums. This forum in particular has some great potential, some great people, and even some great hunters. I would like to see this forum succeed, and this is what this thread is about.

So how many of you would like to see a cleaner, more friendly forum? How many of you would like to eliminate the personal insults and name calling, that the rules already state is not allowed? How many would like to see a site about hunting, and not full of stereotypes and racists? If this is you, demand mods to not be selective in enforcement, and treat every member fairly. Do your part, and report posts you feel is wrong. Speak up and challenge those in position to make changes. This is YOUR forum.

I'm probably in the minority as you posted who hasn't had a run in with you...generally speaking we converse normally, even if our views differ on said topic.

Some people just don't get along with other people and that's life and you have to work around it somehow. Hope you figure out the solution without getting perma-banned or you taking the self-imposed step of leaving.

I bash internet heads with several people here. A few of them I've met after the fact and a few I think I'd get along with fine in real-life despite not agreeing on much. No biggie...you just have to find that way around the problem you/whoever have/has.

Good luck Shawn...don't let this one get out of control more and get you sent on a vaca.

Would you feel better if a different mod gave you a time out ? Just keep pushing the envelope !

Have you ever considered setting up your own site where you can argue to your heart's content ? Whomever else was banned in none of your business ! You aren't going to get a list of names !

Shawn, Im not the only moderator here thats had enough of your nonsense.

You were told that what goes on between the mods and members is between them, and its none of your business. What goes on behind the scenes, is also none of your business. All of this happened in a PM because it doesnt belong out in the forums, but youve got to make a spectacle of yourself, because everyone is out to get you, right?

Im not unfair in warning people, and quite frankly, you have been let off with more warnings than anyone else on this forum ever has. And the warnings havent come just from me. But you still keep pushing things.

This forum has been a success since before you showed up, and it will be a success after you are gone. You want to dictate a forum, then go start one. Nobody forces you to be here.

As many of you know we try to take as hand's off approach to things here as possible.  However, there are a quite a few folks that have been asked to tone things down a few times. Some resulted in temp suspensions to allow them to cool off a bit some are gone for good.  We can't make everyone happy, no one has the time to watch every thread / post / war going on. I still can count on my left hand how many we have banned over the last 4/5 years, it rarely happens.

You have no idea how much I depend on these guys to help moderate the forums, I wouldn't be able to do it with out them.  From moving threads to the proper categories, editing posts for curses, nuking spammer / bot accounts, and the countless other things they do.

I do appreciate everyone that reports threads, it pulls immediate notice to a problem.  Some times they are edited, sometimes they are left to be.

But to be honest, who has been banned / warned / suspended is none of your concern. These guys and myself have been more then fair with folks.
