philoshop
Hey Folks, Just stumbled onto this site while looking for some fur prices, and thought I'd join. Mid-fifties, avid shooter and hunter, looking to swap info and stories with fellow nyers. Currently located in the Geneva area but spent 20 yrs in Buffalo and hunted a lot around Springville and Franklinville. My back 'yard' is an acre of woods that keeps me in venison and limb-chickens, although I spend some time in Wayne county as well. Looking forward to being involved here. Thanks

philoshop
Thanks for the welcomes! Fasteddie, I spent a few years hunting in the Ontario/Walworth corridor, and south into Macedon before Gananda got really built up. Long time ago but I remember the big deer there for sure. These days I just try to put one in the freezer to keep my belly happy.

philoshop
Went to architecture school and worked for a firm for a few years before starting a custom woodworking business. Played some music as well. Had some good times!

philoshop
Got any hot tips on hunting small parcels? Make sure your neighbor has a nice garden, and that you're surrounded by thick stuff! HaHa.Seriously though, get your setup right, only hunt when the wind is pretty much perfect, and don't overhunt it. I may only hunt the 'back yard' 4 or 5 times during bow season even though I'm out there 3 or 4 times a week year round. I target shoot back there and cut firewood and the deer don't seem to care. I've had them come right in to the sound of a chainsaw. But go out to hunt them and they'll leave.?I've been here for 3 seasons. First year I took a 9-point on the second day of bow season. Second year nothing. Nov 1 this past season I took a 5-pt that wandered in as I was packing up to quit for the day. By the time gun season rolls around the bucks are 'gone' from my parcel during daylight.?? I'm guessing they migrate towards the bean and corn fields a half mile away to fatten up for the winter.
