Yote shows up during turkey hunt

Had 2 come in while I was turkey hunting chasing a doe, happened so fast I didn't do anything but watch. It ruined my hunt though. I don't know if I would have shot as I am there to turkey hunt and don't want to disturb the woods with all the noise. Although the next time one ruins my morning hunt I don't think I will be able to control myself.

I hunt in Ontario, Canada for gobblers every spring.

There are LOTS of coyotes around, and it is legal to shoot them anytime.

My partner and passed up a few that came in to our calls..Then we realized that we may as well shoot them, because they usually screw up your turkey hunt anyway.

Now we smoke the coyotes and worry about hunting the turkeys after things settle down, or perhaps the next day..We have killed a couple of dogs and then had gobblers come into the calls a short while later..

BTW...Copper plated sixes work good on coyotes within 20 yards or so....

I had one come in turkey hunting a few years ago. He came to about 15 yards and was looking up in the trees for the turkey.

Had another one come in during the summer on

a full run across a field in broad daylight towards my crying 6 month old daughter and my wife. I just about ripped the door off my truck to get my 22-250. Season or not, if I had a shot I would have killed him.

If I'm not mistaken it's perfectly legal to shoot an animal like a yote if you feel you or your family is in danger.
