rotorooter23
Has anyone shot this bow? I know the best way to figure it out is to shoot it myself but was curious about other's opinions.
Bowtoons
I've shot it. Pretty nice shooting bow. I'm just not a fan of that particular cam system. I prefer something with a static yoke(s). More tuning options. Do yourself a favor and don't limit yourself to one brand. Shoot as many as you can. You'll be surprised whats out there. rotorooter23
yeah I have always shot a Bowtech..I currently have an older 07 allegiance that gets the job done but looking to upgrade this year. Looking at Mathews, Elite, & Bowtech.
NYbuck50
I shot it. IMO the guys who like Matthews will buy it because its a Matthews and thats what half the tv guys shoot. I think there are alot better bows out there for the money, but everyone likes what they like

For my next bow I thought I would try a Hoyt and it has been good to me. However on the day I got my new Hoyt, while the shop owner was setting it up, he said, "Try this one while you are waiting, we just got them in". I did an OMG, what an awesome bow. It was an Elite and it WILL BE my next bow!

Arrow Flinger
I shot it a few weeks ago. It is a nice shooting bow, much better than the Creed, but that cam system sucks. And if you ever wanted/needed new strings for it they come in about 5 pieces and cost $200. Like others have said, shoot all the different bows you can. I've been a Mathews man for the last 10 years but ended up buying a Hoyt this year. Watch out for those Elites......bad cam lean. I know someone who's had to send 6 of the ones he's tuned back to Elite because of this.
dbHunterNY
I thought it shot smooth and drew smooth. speed is par with other bows out there. cam system isn't adjustable without swapping stuff out, including the strings I believe. cams are similar to a monster. it didn't do anything bad but it didn't stand out in any area either. Many of the bows out now are very well made... Elite being up there at the top. You basically pick a bow with characteristics that are what you're looking for. I've known world class shooters that say a bow can still be tuned with cam lean. I understand he got 6 bad ones supposedly. every manufacturer is inevitably going to produce a lemon or junk bow off the line. it happens with the quantity they have to produce. You claim that he should look at other bows and hypocritically dismiss the ones he's interested in. Not everyone wants to monkey and tweak their cams. That's the beauty of Matthews solo. It might not be the fastest but it's one of the easiest and most reliable to shoot. I prefer not to buy my bow from a pimply faced kid at dicks... I'd trust an authorized dealer at an archery shop. NFA-ADK
I admit to being a fan of Mathews mainly due to the solo cam design, simplicity and effectiveness. Plain and simple the bow is a great match for stalking. That said I liked the draw of the Hoyt very smooth. I agree with using a pro shop vs any major store with out a shooting range. The level of knowledge, tools and ability are hard to compare. Pro shops are specialist.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Of all the manufacturer's I listed please tell which one(s) you can't buy at an authorized dealer? Let me guess. You buy a bow from a "pro" shop, they slap your rest, sight ect... on an square it up with a laser tool and your good to go? Well, I got news for ya pal. Your bow was not properly tuned. Even with a solocam you need to tweak stuff. Yoke tune, cam starting position ect... so before you decide to jump on someone do a little research first so next time you'll sound like you have half clue.

rotorooter23
thanks guys for the input, I have heard it from many people as to shoot as many bows as possible no matter what the brand... I have always been caught up in the brand name deal thinking they are the best. What I'm starting to realize is just because it works for them doesn't necessarily mean it will work for me.

Exactly....you'll know which bow is for you when you shoot it. Kinda fits you like a cozy pair of slippers. I like to say don't choose a bow, let the bow choose you. There are some factors to keep in mind though when looking at some of these bows and that's what myself and others in this thread are trying to make you aware of. Just keep it in mind when you check them out.

I have owned martin, PSE, Hoyt & now Mathews purchased it because I blew out my shoulder a couple years ago & the Hoyt draw was pretty rough on my shoulder had it set at 55# & still would be a bear to draw. I have the ZXT maxed at 60# & doesnt bother my shoulder at all & shoots great Will I stick with Mathews maybe but when I am in the market for a bow I but the one in my price range that feels the most comfortable to me. I can care less what everyone else is shooting

Sorry for not getting all the specs right. You'll notice I did not say I ever shot the chill, nor did I discount other bows. Just simply trying to squash the Matthews hate I see all the time. I shoot an old switchback and I've never wounded or missed a deer. That bow has been all over the woods and never once given me grief.thanks guys for the input, I have heard it from many people as to shoot as many bows as possible no matter what the brand... However there's also a reason any brand or model is popular and it's usually because they check the most boxes for most people. Do you see more iPhones or windows phones? Are windows phones better? Maybe for some, but not most. Is a Camry the best car for all? No. But it is for the largest population segment. My only point to the Matthews haters is that their bows did not accidentally become popular.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited March 14, 2014 by Belo

Maybe you should quit while you're ahead. For starters, calling someone out for improper grammar and then spelling Mathews wrong just makes you look ignorant. Notice one "T" in Mathews. If you've been shooting one so long, you should know how to spell it. Secondly, Myself and Bowtoons have both owned several Mathews bows. I still have the Switchback XT. We're far from Mathews haters but I just haven't liked any of their bows since the Z7. The reason they are so popular is they are a marketing machine and most guys just want the newest Mathews because that's what the guys on TV shoot. We were trying to make sure the OP don't fall into that trap and shoots all the offerings he can.

sweet old bill
As a archery dealer for over 20 years I have to tell you the best is what feels good in your hand. It does not have to me the top of the line bow or the one that costs the most. It has to fit you that why I suggest you go to a good dealer and be checked out for draw length. Also for hunting or target it does not have to be a 60 to 70 lb bow, it can be a 50 to 60 lb bow will kill all are big game in the USA. Why kill yourself and get bad habits due to to much poundage. I myself have several bows I use, some are single cam and others are duel cam or cam 1/2.. I have shot my best scores with a older bowtech commander and then my hoyt bow. They just feel right for me. When I draw on a target or deer, I know the arrow will go where I am sighted in on. So take your time and try lots of them. Once you get the new bow, start trying to learn how best you can set it up and fine tune it for yourself. good luck in your selection of a new bow and a lifetime of fun with archery. Five Seasons
Dude...GFY! I'm done with you. Isn't it past your bedtime? Is that really your response to my question? To call names when I ask you a question? What are you 12? Many debates and discussions in my life. When someone results to insults and swears usually thats because they have no argument left. Maybe you fell into "the trap"? I agree with Bill. Try them all regardless of label. Don't rule one out because it's not popular and don't rule one out because their marketing budget is bigger than others either.
