Great North Dakota Blizzard Of 1966

Reported 70-100 mph winds and 40' drifts. I can't imagine that much snow. I wonder how many died from it.

Probably a few I'm sure, but Id also like to think they were smarter back then and didn't go out in the middle of it? Like they did in Buffalo at Christmas time last year. And that storm took 40 some?

I was around back in 1966, we had one heck of a Bizzard right here in NY also.

Imagine those living in those tough winter weather areas, back then, prepped and were ready for it when it came. Knew how to cook, bake, canned food and just rode out the weather and probably did ok.

40 foot drifts ... they were probably finding body's in August.

We  had 20 foot drifts here in Dogpatch....It took a town employee,  ( who happened to the the Mermaid's father)   two days to bust through a 20 foot drift  about 150 yards south of our house, with a grader....
