DirtTime
I have seen 2. The 2 were both in the same area, I was in my teens and camping at Taylor Pond in the upper ADK's. One was running down the road and bolted off. We were headed to Union Falls for night fishing. The other was on the hiking trail around the lake a few years later. It was on the opposite side of the lake from where I was. Not in hunting season though.
Two Track
Two years in a row we had a bear visit in the summer raiding the neighborhood's trash cans. I have seen 2 bears in VA in the Shenandoah Nation Park, and bear scat while backpacking in New Mexico back in the 80's. Saw three bears this year while hunting. One walked head-on towards me with range and then turned 270 degrees and walked up the ridge on opening day of gun season. Saw the other two (at least one was a cub) on the 24th - same state land, but different tract of it.
turkeyfeathers
Still at a big fat 0. Hunt Eagle/Bliss area and supposedly one of the larger NYS bears was killed down that way years ago. I toss my bear tag the day I get it, just my preference not too shoot one. (not opposed to others shooting them) Heck, every time in ASP we drive at night to the garbage dumpsters in hopes of seeing one nut again, nope. And in AK while fishing and hiking, not a one. Thinking I stand a better chance at this point of seeing Jimmy Hoffa, Elvis or a Leprachan Edited December 1, 2014 by turkeyfeathers
The_Real_TCIII
One in NY on public in Cherry Creek. I hunt with 5 hardcore guys who put in 100+ hours a season in NY for 140 combined seasons and between us we've seen three bears
fishuntrapper
many, many in ASP as a kid my grandparents would take us to the dumps to watch them. 1 in 1988 near Speculator, NY, which I took with my flintlock. 11 others in ASP (not at the dumps), 3 in PA. 2 in Arkansas, when I lived there. all on state land. TreeGuy
Zilch. Ever. Would love to introduce one to my wall though ! Our neighbors in franklinville always see them, get them on trail cams and they have killed a few, so I am always excited when I'm there but nothing yet !
