Pav2704
Anybody going to the Ridge check station tomorrow to register for January's firearm season? I received number 8 so I'm pretty excited. I was thinking about picking one of the spots in Rocky Point. EspressoBuzz
I just got Otis Pike parking Spot #10 (Line Road) for Sunday January 4th 2015. If anyone has any tips or information about this particular area of Otis Pike I'd appreciate a heads up. Also If my cousin from Staten Island cancels out on me I could add a hunter to my reservation. Thanks All! The DEC has extended the firearms season in Suffolk by making opening day a Sunday and including weekends as well until the end of January. First-light
We hunted 9 and 10 the last two years. Walk walk and walk some more. Keep pushing them and you will see deer. We saw a total of 25 in one day. Only saw 1 buck though but plenty of sign

Pav2704
I went with spot 6 in Rocky Point. Hopefully Lots of walking will kick up some deer and will double as scouting for next year.

First-light
We locked up 9, 10 and 2 on the 13th at Otis Pike. There will be 6 of us out there pushing all day. Last year we had opening day and it rained like hell for the first half.
First-light
add 5 to that list for 6 of us. Should be great. My brother and hid daughter were out yesterday I want to say spot 45 on Middle Country road. They saw plenty of sign. His daughter saw a doe and my brother saw a nice 8 pt very dark rack. Both deer were in thick stuff leading to no shot.

I looked at some updated figures yesterday and it looks like Rocky Point is up to 23 deer so far. Still a couple weeks left in the season to get it done though.

One of the few things I miss about L.i. that is deer hunting in Jan. with a light coating of snow on the ground.

ATbuckhunter
Ya I don't know how you guys would hunt on a day like today. I can deal with cold and snowy but cold and rainy is just pure misery! Good luck out there.

First-light
Spot 2 is on the opposite side of the road. Correct and actually we have the other spots on that side also. A friend of ours put in for spot 5. So now 7 of us will be hunting that area. Going to be cold but sunny out. Just about ready to head over to my brothers house. I report back in tonight.
