Old injury or Genetics?

Just wondering what people thought of this young buck i have on my trail cam about a week ago. Ive had a couple trail cams up there for about 4 years and have never had a antler look like this.

Definitely not a genetic thing.  I doesn't neccesarily have to be an injury (although a likely candidate).  It could just be he has a jacked up pedicle (from birth, from injury, from a bug, from a disease, from an infection, etc.).

I would say he has injured the pedicle too. But in a couple of years he will have a very unique and interesting set of antlers. I'd let him grow,just to see how he turns out.

 

And who knows,he may grow a normal set next year. Ya just never know!

Hes definitely one i plan on letting go for a couple more years. Hes looks like hes only 1 - 1-1/2 at the most based on how short his head appears. The crappy thing is however i hunt in a very populauted area where a lot of people are more meat hunters than anything and if he turns out to be a cool looking buck come october/november its not going to help his case. Im pretty possitive i will get some more pictures of him over the next 4-5 months on one of my cameras so Ill post some more of him as he grows just to see what he turns out to be. Its pretty neat tho, i have never really seen a buck like this so im really interested and temppted to check my cam every week.

It'll be interesting to see if the following years have the same damage...it's not a rule either way, but it'll be interesting to watch.
