Low and High Deer Populations

After listening to a few media reports on areas with high and low deer populations I wonder on a few things. One town wanted to do a one day bow season in city limits. Thus killing the deer. I watched a video once where they were trapping deer for relocation. Why not instead of killing the deer in high population areas (in city limits) trap them and relocate to low population areas. Cost shouldn't be an issue because well are state spends enough money on their great ideas.

If deer are low in density in a certain area, its usually because the habitat cant support higher numbers. If the food is available, and they arent overhunted every year, the deer will be there.

Do you have any idea how much a relocation program like that would cost?

These area's of no hunting are known "safe" spots for deer and they will always stay in these spots because they do not get harassed or hunted.  Relocation is just another justification in spending more money on something that in the long run will not solve the problem of over population.

Simply put the best way to control population is to allow more bow hunters access to these lands.  They opened up a few new area's on LI this year but still the homeowners do not want hunters during the day and would rather have snipers at night so they do not have to see ANY HUNTING or possible deer blood or a kill on their lawn.  Simply put they want them removed but do not want to see them removed.  They would prefer night time hunting so they do not have to witness any killings.

What does are state/government spend on legalizing gay marriage? Wait better yet a bill is set in motion to legalize marijuana? What will that cost? Does anyone remember how much was spent just on the muskrat study? So what do you do about the places that can't handle deer numbers?

So pouring money down the toilet (OUR MONEY, I might add) justifies pouring more down? There is liberal logic for you...lol

How about this. To shore up NY's failing printing industry, help out the post office and public transportation, why give every deer in these high density areas a PO box. Then we can mail them a formally printed invitation and a free one way pass on the bus or train of their choice and just let them know where we want them to relocate to?

The pouring money out the door is the bull crap of spending how much on legalizing gay marriage. That's nonsense. What could that money be spent on. Or legalize marijuana I want to be in the woods and the guy next to me is fried and thinks he shot a deer but shot my kid. Yay america. Your government isn't failing you, it already did.

Franklin Roosevelt created jobs by planting trees to give work. Cost didn't matter. In these areas with low populations, plant trees that will help through winter. Plant corn lots. This will also create jobs. But this is the America in 2015. What happened years ago just some how isn't possible anymore I guess lol

Oh it is possible and is in full swing. Pouring money to those that don't earn it. Funny you use the United States big forerunner for socialist welfare programs. One benefit of then compared to now. At least they had them do busy work for the money

I will preface this by saying I do not smoke pot but legalizing marijuana will make the government money

I will agree it will increase the tax revenue. at least until the Govt gets greedy and the taxes make it feasible for a black market again. Now with the revenue there are cost. and those are what is really debated. Social, economic, rehabilitation, increases in drug use. Imagine how sue happy NY is and how much the system favors the worker, how the workers comp and accident injury claims will pan out.

N.Y. is just worried about how to get more money out of you that's all....but hey when they shut areas down guaranteed the same people bashing What I say will be the same ones crying that they can't hunt and that the state should have done something before it got to that point. Just like the guys who bitched about the two week doe only. I bet none of them lifted a pen to let DEC know there thoughts.
