I texted him right after my above post.  Things are going good for him, still living in northern NY.  He sent me a couple pics of a mishap at work that fortunately didn't involve him. 

I encouraged him to pop in and say hello, I see he was here but didn't post.  Maybe the forum woes have him hamstrung too??

Although I only had the opportunity to meet him once, he's one of those people you just get good vibes from and know they'll do just fine in life.
