Light carbine Simi automatic in 30-06 any suggestions looked around does not seem to be much out there just looking for a good reason to get another rifle this is something I don't have and would like to have

I would look at gun shows or the used racks at gun stores I would look at the Browning or Remington only 2 I have ever fired.

Luckily for you there are only 2 currently on the market and none come in carbines. There are 3 that are readily available the Brownings, Benelli and Remington. I own a Benelli and a few of the Remington's and they are both good guns. Never like the feel of the Brownings. The Benelli I cut the barrel of to make a carbine and it's a sweet gun but not the most accurate.

None are what I would consider light.

If your looking for a gun to use and truck gun go Remington 742 you could pick one up for $250-$300. Plus parts are cheap and easy to find. The other's are going to cost you.

my dad has one of those and Alot of my relatives use them .  Not exactly a feather weight  when scoped .

Just wondering with all the new technology maybe someone has something like that  That is much lighter . Or maybe I  have to go with something like a .308   lot more Simi automatics  in that caliber  I noticed but they all seem to be ar type which I don't want .

I want a tradition looking hunting rifle like the Woodmaster but lighter basically 

Just a excuse to get another one really

LIGHT   and SEMI-AUTO 30-06  aren't terms that are used together much...Probably a good reason for that.

Just like there was a good reason the (military) BAR weighed 20 pounds loaded..
