Rubs

I have been seeing and hearing a lot of people talking about fresh rubs. Why so late? I thought they only did this before the rut stage. I'm pretty sure the rut is on its way out in my neck of the woods. Any thoughts on this?

Seeing some fresh ones. They rub all through out the rut, with the pre rut and right after peak rut being the peak times for rubbing.

I've fresh rubs as late as late January some years. If does are still coming into estrus, bucks will retain their antlers, dominance pheromones, and attitude. "It ain't over til its over."

I have been seeing a lot of fresh ones. At least I know there are still some bucks around

I did not see a lot of rubs this year......A lot less than I normally do

That's a good observation. I agree. The strange thing is that I saw and passed more bucks than ever, had more different bucks on my trail cams (on four properties) and saw very few rubs...but more scrapes. Are the bucks turning into lovers and not fighters...

I didn't see many rubs at the beginning of the season. Seeing a ton now. I don't get it. I think I have this animal figured out and then another yr comes and I'm not sure I know as much as I think

Rubs in my area were real late this year

Still have fresh rubs and scrapes showing up. And a couple new bucks on cams as well. To all you guys and gals, still looking to shoot a buck. Hang in there and don't give up yet! It aint over till it's over!

Rubs and scrapes in 8G were late this year perhaps not until the first week of November. Still seeing some rubs, though. I also wonder if because hunters are out rattling, grunting, using estrous etc... Keeping them aggressive and moving.. We rattled in a 2.5 year old 7 pointer last weekend out of a bedding area and shot him at 20 yds

No, not late at all. Perfect and predicted. Just as every year, peaking the week after the Full Moon. Just that our calendar date every year varies.
