loworange88
Hey everyone. I am thinking of going tomorrow morning with my muzzleloader, and am wondering if its worth it. Its forecast to be super cold and windy. We have snow here and its basically a full moon, so I think the deer are moving at night. But I was thinking of going out around 8:30ish, and maybe hunt until 11:00 on the off chance of seeing deer for a mid morning feeding. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks. Fletch
I'd probably be not to worried on early morning and hit late morning - mid day. I would work the wind and get close to a bedding area. Deer will get up but probably not wander too far. Or still hunt. I looked at the weather and thought sleep in! I have to work so my choice is before or after work and small treestand locations and not looking forward to a 20+ mph wind! The ML season weather is looking pretty poor. Couple days of extreme low temps and high wind. Follow that up with a lot of rain over the weekend. Woohoo!! loworange88
Agreed! I can get out tomorrow and some on the weekend, then that's it for me. I'd like to be able to stack one more into the freezer. So far this entire season, it's been one deer. I had a few doe I could have shot, but I passed at the time. Now I'm kicking myself for it. BigVal
If I could be out I would be out. Season is dwindling and cold is only in your head. Lol good luck.

Doc
Sounds like a good opportunity to sharpen up your still-hunting skills. Dress in all kind of layers and seek out sheltered areas. Unlike a bow, with muzzleloaders and crossbows, you don't have to worry about bulky clothing disturbing your shooting, so you can put on as much as you think you might need. The slight, slow movement of still hunting will help keep you warm. Most likely you will have the woods all to yourself.
Core
So bright out at 3:45 when I woke you could shoot a deer on a white field (not legally). Next few days look like trash in my parts. I'm almost totally burned out anyway. Hopefully monday/tuesday pan out as they look like they should and I'll finish up.
