I just shake my head when I hear about guys (hunters) scheduling weddings and births in the fall!!! LOL.

...another thing.  with my involvement in deer related things as you know is a year long endeavor.  my wife is fully broken into the idea that deer season is in the fall but deer stuff happens 364 days a year.  i don't knowingly hunt anything on her bday.

When I got married,  there were no game seasons open in September, and I was years away of even THINKING of hunting elk, moose or caribou, so I figured that Sept  4 would be a safe date...
Then about 20 years later, I started going on big game hunts in Alaska, the Rocky mountains and northern Canada, many of which occur in September..
So it happened that on several of my wedding anniversaries, I  was  in the wilderness somewhere in North America instead of at home celebrating with my wife..
Do you  suppose that could be ONE of the reasons I'm no longer married  ?......>..... Oh WELL.....>....

What year?

1971......Divorced in 2006....  Spent 35 years together, but it didn't seem like a day more than 50

A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in bed.

She puts on her dressing gown and goes downstairs to look for him and finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee in front of him.

He appears to be in deep thought, just staring and the wall.

She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of his coffee....

"What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room.

The husband looks up from his coffee, "I am just remembering when we first met 20 years ago and started dating. Do you remember back then?" he says solemnly.

The wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring, so sensitive. "Yes, I do" she replies.

The husband pauses. The words were not coming easily.

"Do you remember when your father caught us in my car?"

"Yes, I remember!" said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.

The husband continues. "Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said:

"Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years?"

"I remember that too" she replies softly.

He wipes another tear from his cheek and says....

"I would have been released today!"
