Serious question, has a hunter ever been attacked by a coyote??

I'm also curious. I had a trail camera near my stand that catches me leaving/entering. Camera was on 3 shot burst and showed a coyote following my exact path a minute or less after the pics of me one evening. maybe coincidence, path of least resistance and all. But did make me wonder.

Out of all of the critters in the woods, the 2 legged ones are your only true concern. Having said that, I never go into the woods without a knife and pistol of some sort, an extra 16oz or less is cheap insurance should you need it. I think people are just naturally terrified of coyotes and my hair raises a few times a year too but then I think back to all of the coyotes I tried to get close to me with electronic callers and couldn't despite sounding like a defenseless dinner.

saw one of those survival shows on TV where a guy was attacked by coyotes.  Am sure its really really rare.  I had one come out and follow my exact trail across an open field one time like he was tracking me.  I was in a treestand watching him in a huge field.  He turned around about 80 yards away.   Also had one like 70 yards away all hair bristled up when I was walking my dog. We backed away, didnt take time to see what he was gonna do.  Glad my dog was on a leash though.

There was a young woman who was stalked and killed by one or two coyotes in Nova Scotia a few years back. She was tiny though - about 5' and slight if I remember quickly.
I have to think that an average man could handle a 40 lb coyote, even with bare hands.

I do remember this, although I wouldn't assume you can take on a coyote with bare hands... It makes me chuckle when people assume we are tougher than wild animals. Wild animals are just that, wild. How many humans can take a 30-06 round and continue to go a mile or more across terrain while being chased by a hunter? I'm betting not many. Deer do it all of the time. Even if you were to "subdue" the animal, you're going to suffer a lot of damage in the meantime. I never go into the woods without a knife, and 90% of the time a pistol accompanies me. Hell even a wild or stray dog can ruin your day. While I don't fear being attacked by a coyote, stranger things have happened, bare hand a coyote? No. .45 a coyote? I like my chances.
