growalot
rack ticking...I was out in the garden, mind you I know every square inch of my property. I have also racked up hours of buck sparring and fights over the years. Now with that said I'm picking beans when I hear ticking...Aug 23? hhhmmm Let it go when there it is again and again and again...just past the narrow plot behind the pines in out younger woods... no possible way it was a human made sound in that area and the wind wasn't blowing to tickle the tree limbs definitely not a wood pecker, pileted or other wise...So seeing I have not seen any buck here this year what would the chance be?????? we are usually looking early/mid Sept. Jeremy K
Itchy antlers or sasquatch?
growalot
Would any be rubbing now and only Sasquatch around here have big paws and look eerily like humans when skinned Though rubbing sounds way different then a couple of racks ticking...had it been a different area I would have said a neighbor messing with his rattling antlers.. dbHunterNY
sounds like bugs at the end of your garden in that direction or trees strained/popping. sometimes it's not the normal deep pop you usually hear. no idea otherwise. lol

growalot
Well the wind picked up and I went back out to the garden to pull carrots...was out there a while, no more sound like the ones earlier...so I'm really not sure it was trees...besides fairly evenly spaced sounds...hhmmmm

stubby68
Look up videos of black bear clicking. They will pop there jaws sometimes. Kind of sounds like a clicking. At least it does to me. Video sounds a little different from hearing it in person though.

Isn't that considered to be an extreme sign of aggressive behavior and intentions?
growalot
Yes and a warning ....which would make sense because it could have gotten within sight ,behind all the brush eyeing the garden. I was bent over picking and standing to move down the line of bush beans..also hand weeding squash. My popping up in veiw every moment or so could have startled or annoyed it. I got the go get your pistol permit lecture again.
