JALA RUT
For my pot calls, I use a scotch-brite pad to buff up my slates and a fine grit sand paper to buff up my glass. Are these Ok to use and what grit sand paper do you use?
dbHunterNY
i use scotch-brite pad for both and it seems to work just fine. go in one direction and not back and forth. as in pick the pad off the surface of the call. you'll have more consistency that way. that's what call makers have told me and seems to work well.
reeltime
I use a scotchbrite pad for the slate style calls. For the glass calls first round of conditioning I have a wonder styk ( I believe thats the name) it has a handle with a bend and a stone like a wet stone. I have not used it in many years as the few glass calls I carry in my vest have already been conditioned and now only get freshened with diamond sand paper.
G-Man
Scotch bright pad on both.. sand paper is very.agressive or if very fine actually hurts the call. Chalk on a glass.call works well as well.
turkeyfeathers
Agree with Gman. No sandpaper. Scotch brite only. Pot calls have a sweet spot too. Always condition in the same direction
