I'm up in Rochester. Around here, there aren't a lot of options when it comes to buying firearms outside of either dick's or F&S. Don't get me wrong, I go local where i can. But in this case they're convenient, and the prices work. . I know that I can go in, ask questions and get a reasonably knowledgeable answer, and shop for any outdoor gear that I need. I've never had an item that I've either wanted or needed that they haven't had. Don't crucify me, but why are they bad? Just read jmark's comment. Is there a thing downstate where you can't buy certain firearms? I know that up here I could get any rifle or shotgun i wanted (even AR platforms) in the store. And if it's not in stock, i can order it. So maybe there is an upstate / downstate divide in how the stores handle firearms? And it's the only place like it locally. Gander is shut down. I'd love to have cabelas close by but it's an hour + into buffalo. They were supposed to open a bass pro in victor but who knows how that's going. I do have an AR. I don't feel guilty about owning it one little bit because I'm positive it will never be involved in a crime. Gun crime is a large topic overall; the majority of gun deaths continue to be via handguns (mostly illegal) in the hands of idiots/gang members/criminals. ATbuckhunter
I was surprised to hear they hired 3 gun lobbiests and I wouldnt shop there if I had a better option to be honest. Being on in NYC, Dicks and field and stream are pretty much the only options I have around me for hunting items. I order from Cabelas when I can but I don't like paying for shipping when can get it with out paying for it

Frankly, I know a lot of people that own sporting arms that are semi-autos just like all those super scary-looking AR-style "black rifles" that have all the libs so spooked. And those sporting rifles can fire ammo just as fast and efficient as those rifles that have been labeled assault rifles by the ignorant "Chicken Littles" that are all running around in circles worrying about the appearance of certain guns. and in most cases they are much more powerful that the typical AR 15 platforms

You take a deer caliber bolt gun and shoot up a crowd one bullet will go though 2 or 3 people and kill them all at close range a gun is gun . Most of them carry multiple guns anyway.
