Opinions on the Springfield XD

I haven't owned a pistol in many years, but I have a chance to buy a Springfield XD in .45 ACP.  Thoughts on this firearm?  My buddy carried one while he was in the Army and beat the daylights out of it.  He claims it's as good as a Glock or a Smith and Wesson M&P.  I am a pistol novice, but I have shot the XD and it was very accurate IMO.  Who has one?

Love them. Had an XD40 for a while, will be picking up an XDS before too long. Great handguns.

I have the XD mod2 in .45, absolutely love it, and carry it daily.  Dad has the xds 9, both great for what its worth.  The safety’s are no issue, if you shoot/hold a gun how it supposed to be handled, you dont even realize the safety’s are there.  Never an issue with either.

I have one and it’s in my carry rotation. This time of year it’s a 1911 for me, as the weather gets warmer I move to the xds and the shield. I like the xds better than the shield because I feel more comfortable carrying with the grip safety

Love my XD chambered in .357 Sig. streamlight laser/ light combo on it too.

MY buddy has the XD in 40, i have the XDS in 45.. Both awesome guns. My XDS is very accurate
