Forest Hunter
I have been practicing since maybe the beginning of july. I shoot accurately up to thirty yards and I shoot in a field at a 3D target. I was just wondering about what factors of shooting out of a treestand can effect the where the arrow will end up. Thanks Forest Hunter
WNYBuckHunter
First of all, bend at the waist. First draw your bow pointing level and make sure your anchor points are good, then keep it all still and bend at the waist and aim. If you arent doing that, your form and aim will be off. Geno C
i have a 20 yard pin and a 50 yard. my 20 is good from 18 yards out to 45 yards dead on. for those closer shots i added a "tree stand pin" 18 or so yards and in. its slightly right above my 20 yard pin and bring my bow down a hair to compensates for the elevation and close quarter shots... works perfect for me! Nomad
One should practice out of a stand because one hunts out of a stand. The old saying " train like you fight ". WNYbuckhunter, brings up a very good point about bending and form. I'd like to add, when on a stand your choices of foot placement, may be really different then on the ground, you may draw and hit the tree with your elbow,or find your harness causes issues. While a shot just under or close to your tree may not be a shot one may want to take, seeing how and where the arrow passes through a target, will make you aware of the risks of that shot . Good luck
