Dave
I was up state last weekend and saw a nice 6pt buck and his antlers were nice and clean. Checked my trail cameras and wonder where all the bucks have gone. Check cameras every 2-3 weeks and this time there were fewer deer and no bucks, whats up with that. G-Man
Thats why it sucks to get pics of deer in velvet, once hard horns show up the bachlor groups start to break up and they dispurse.... i get much more excited to see buck with hard horn on cam 2 weeks before the season than i am getting a giant in velvet... SweetMike
i find a statement that a guy made to me before i was kicked of the property i hunted for 6 years to be kinda funny. it goes along with what G-Man said. he told me that last year when i started putting my cameras out and scouting that all the deer movement changed. i just said yeah that was late sept. it happens every year. he then tells me that nobody saw any deer because of it.. i laughed and said i saw deer every time i was in stand. which is basically true. but anyways his poor hunting and scouting skills cost me a great hunting area. i have a feeling if i hadnt shot the buck i have on my wall now. i would be still hunting there. Sorry just had to vent a little.

WNYBuckHunter
I have a quick question. Why do some of you guys look at your cards on one camera and take a picture of the picture with another camera? Why not just pop your card into a reader (most PCs have had them built in for years) and upload form there? I really think its funny when you see pics of the pic displayed on a monitor lol. G-Man
maybe some are done via cellphone from a card reader in the field??
First-light
I have a quick question. Why not just pop your card into a reader (most PCs have had them built in for years) and upload form there? I really think its funny when you see pics of the pic displayed on a monitor lol. I remember having a setup at the cabin and you could only view the picts via the TV. So we took picts of the deer off of the TV with cell phones. There is a reason for everything, especially when your at camp and limited sometimes.
WNYBuckHunter
That sounds odd. Although I know some cams have the TV output on them. I was just wondering.
G-Man
have to have the cables at camp to.view as well... or in their excitement its faster to load them to a computer but might not have internet at camp so cell phone is faster? i know i have and old computer at camp to view but no internet..though if i got to town its free wi-fi.. maybe i dont know for sure... Tio1
I check mine in the field and it's easier and faster to take a pic of a pic with the cell phone. Try to get in/out as quick as possible. Be checking this wknd - hopefullly another pic of pic
WNYBuckHunter
Why dont you just get another card and swap them? Thats a ton faster than checking them right there and taking pics of pics. SD cards are dirt cheap.
Dakota Dog
WNY that is what I do. I have 2 camera's and 5 SD cards. I card stays in my camera at home, 2 in the trail cams and 2 so when I go check them I just remove and replace.
Doc
Yeah, SD cards are relatively cheap, and there is nothing faster than simply swapping cards. But don't do like I did once, and lose track of which one you took out vs. the empty one that is to be put in. There's nothing worse than standing there looking at one card in your right hand and the other in your left hand and not knowing which one was the empty one. I think it's an age thing. I took a chance figuring the worst that could happen is more pictures would be added onto the old card. Fortunately I had a 50-50 chance and took home the right one. First-light
That sounds odd. Although I know some cams have the TV output on them. I was just wondering. Your right it is odd. The camera had a usb port but we didn't have a computer at camp. I agree swapping the card is a great way to do it.
Tio1
Absolutely right with the SD cards. Thats what I do when I have a spare - right now all in use. Oct 1 - PA archery opener!!!!
WNYBuckHunter
I just buy 2 for each camera I have. Works good.
Fantail
I use an SD/USB card reader, can use it like a flash drive. Hopefully next years budget buys some cams so I can use it

SweetMike
i use the SD cards also but i take my digital camera with me to review the pics in the field and if there is anything worth saving i swap cards and take the full one home. works pretty good for me
WNYBuckHunter
I keep records of all activity caught on my cam, so all of the pics (besides the ones caused by branches, etc, get organized by location and date into folders on my PC at home. Doc
All of my pics are numbered so that I can easily find them. And I also maintain a database that uses those picture numbers as a reference and notes locations, what is pictured, time of day, direction of where they were heading and a comments column. I'm not sure how all this info will ever be used, but I figured I should capture all the info in case I come up with a practical use for any of it in the future. Otherwise, it just serves as a fancy index....lol.
