My view is follows its been the N.Y.S. Idea that fine and fine and fine and let them

go.I know of a couple of fellows who have been caught more then once or twice

received fines.Only to go right back a to the same locations to practice their law-

lessness.I still have to chase them out of the area.Heres the laws response after

they got caught well we catch um and fine um and the courts let them have there

rights back.I feel that poaching is very wide spread.Tougher laws need to be in

place.1st offense should be a miscdemeanor. 30 days and 1000. fine loss of any

and all life time hunting rights, forfieture of everything used in the offense.2nd time

should be a felony with 10,000 fine and 3 to 5.We have to be tougher on law breakers

last yr alone on the friday be for rifle openned I listened to between 10 to 15 shots

that evening they were hunting smallgame.

There are allways crazy comments at the end of news stories, it gives people a chance at saying stuff with no repricussions.

I think I know a guy that deserves this banning. whistle.gif

How do you enforce any game laws with depleted ECO's?

All they gotta do here in New York is read some of the threads on this site.

Heck I think I have seen penalties lighter than that for vehicular manslaughter....not that I don't agree the penalties need to be stiffer but they have to fit in the scale of things. fining most of these folks could be hard It is that blood from a stone thing. Mandatory manual labor.....just like we should be doing with all the criminals in there.

How about getting the fines more realistic and really take anything used in the commission of the crime......and give the tipster a cut of the collected fines...random driving around in my opinion does little. Other hunters could really help this if we all took it seriously...and increased fines could help fund it.

My Dad took me hunting on opening day archery which was my first time hunting I think it was 1990-'91 season. We left our house on Long Island around 3:30-4:00 am and got up to where we hunt got into our hunting gear grabbed our bows and started into the woods. It was just getting light my Dad was 10 yards in front of me and there was a ravine down to our left. I thought I heard something snap behind us down in the ravine so I stopped and looked and here came a doe with a little 4 ptr on her tail and then this huge rack was behind him. They weren't running but they were walking fast almost at a trot. My Dad by this time had turned to look too and then we looked at each other with our jaws hitting the ground. I tried hitting the grunt tube to get them to stop but it seemed to make them walk even faster. So we watched that rack bobbin and weavin through the woods in awe. Just about the time we lost sight of it a couple of seconds went by and then BOOM ! My Dad and I looked at each other and said no F' ing Way ! We walked towards the shot and here's this Moron climbing out of his treestand with a rifle over his shoulder and a bow. We started for him and when he saw us he tried to hide his rifle behind a stone wall. My Dad went right to the wall and picked up his rifle. At our feet layed the biggest buck we have ever seen in the woods. My Dad and I held this guy until the Trooper came and arrested him. It took all of us to get the deer in the troopers trunk. We asked the DEC for the antlers of the buck but they had already got rid of it for study. What a deer. That guy still has a house close to where we hunt but he doesn't come up there during hunting season. What a strange way to begin my hunting experiences. We got a reward for our effort from TIPS. I also learned that poaching is wrong and potentially dangerous. We could've been shot by that idiot since we had no orange on.
