Deer v. Car

As I was driving today I heard a story on CBS news warning drivers in CT to be on the look out for deer crossing major highways and parkways. They estimate over 3,000 Deer v. Car collisions to occur between now and end of December in CT alone.

Be safe and alert especially if you are driving up during night time hours.

They put that alert out in NY last week. Ill be damned if every friggin car on every country road I drove on for 2 days wouldnt go more than 45mph. I was full of road rage, let me tell you.

maybe they need to have roadside season to protect the road ways its funny they warn us about deer in the roads but cant fix them

I forget what the numbers were and the demographic.....but claims made for deer collision was north of a billion dollars.....hence why people question why I hunt ( depending on the situation) I tell them it to save them money on their car insurance

My brother nailed a big 8 this morning down near Kingston in his company work van, I havent talked to him but he said it was nice. Damn guy couldnt wait for season and had to run one over to get ahead of me for the year! JK

I bet he is bumming as will be any one that was scouting the buck.

I thought someone said that deer got hit near Pembroke. Regardless, the only reason it looks to have a 30 inch spread is because half of his skull, with the left antler attached, is broken and the antler is not in the correct position.

Not sure on that one alli can tell you is the pic came from a st lawerance cty state trooper and sent to my buddy a watertown police officer.Dated aug 22 at 7.28 pm.I kinda thought it looked like some damadge but pull them together the 3 or 4 in max they are seperated and i would have to say he is still a book deer!!!

3 or 4 inches? That antler is moved alot. Compare the angle of the brow tines. The antler is laying on the neck/shoulder. Its a nice deer, but I have heard at least two other stories about it being taken by a cop (likely) in two other towns, both near each other. Who knows where its really from.

I really thought it was kinda big for a northern zone buck... Not alot of them runnin around up here. Who knows..Sucks either way.That would have made a great opening morning or the last day of the year!!

I agree. Sucks to see big deer like that get smacked by a car, no matter where they are from.

That pic has been floating around for years. I have had it emailed to me twice saying it was hit at different locations in CNY. Who knows where that was really hit.

route 17 was starting to load up with deer hit! give a few weeks and even more deer will be hit..

Friend hit a 265 lbs black bear on rt 17(86) headed east into olean last sat... deer aren't the only problem......
