you dont even neeed the online certificate there is a certificate in the hunting reg magazine you get from where ever you get your tafgs from in there is a certificate you sign and date but you have to carry this with you while crossbow hunting along with your bow license. I am looking at it right now its on page 12 of the NYS hunting and trapping guide to Laws and regulations for 2011-2012

Of course it would. They would just add the crossbow to the bowhunter course curriculum. The big question will be what about people that already have the cert, will they be grandfathered in or have to take some short class or something like that? The DEC will let everyone know exactly what the details will be when/if it happens.

G-Man, if they become legal during archery season, why would they put it in the gun course? Wouldnt make any kind of sense at all.

Possibly the similarity of how they shoot .

A person can't even bowhunt unless they have taken the gun course . a few years ago My youngest son took the archery course and passed . The week before the season open , he went to get his archery license but couldn't because he hadn't taken the Gun safety Course . He had no intention of gun hunting but it was required . So , he got jilted out of bow hunting his 1st year .
