Hunting coyotes with a 22,,Anyone

I have shot them with bow shot gun and all kinds of rifles from 17hmr to 300 weatherby mags they all work its all in where you hit them !!!

12 gauge with # 4 Dead Coyote round,good for 75 yards,one shot and they do not move anymore.

Well it did work I was not happy with the length of time it took it to die.I shot one right behind the ear thinking that would be a great shot and it ran about 150 yards and droped and I called it quits.Im going to be using my 9mm carbine,Since the yotes were coming pretty close anyway.12g to loud in my opinion!

So I got my 22 yesterday now we r goin to creamery road in scriba to see if we can call some in poss tmw day and nite I got a marlin 795 semi auto for $140.39 at dicks in clay I shot it late yesterday and it handles like a dream now I need to find better ammo other than the standard 22lr ammo any advice?

Definitely CCI Mini Mag HP's. CCI's burn clean as hell. Always worked good for me.

Yea i used a cci when i took the dog.I mean like i said beforre the dog ran so i really dont like using a 22 anymore.Im sticking with my 9mm carbine.

I hunt coyotes with hounds and all my group uses are shotgun and .22 mag with the mag being used most of the time. I skin and put up my yotes and I do not want the big holes. We average 50 a year and the mag is the culprit of most.

I still haven't went yet I mostly play cod on my 360 but I just bought a new bipod for my .22 and haven't sighted it in yet still I can put ten rounds in a square target at 25 yards open sights it's really easy for me so idk what to do ?

I wouldn't use stingers in a marlin 795 the bolt buffer can't handle the hyper velocity rounds and you could break the buffer and possibly crack the receiver.

my 795 seems to like a strict diet of cci mini mags hp and round nose.

I have killed a ton of coyotes with a 22 mag on the run. I used to hound hunt evry day all winter long. It works great out to 150 yards. I have killed probably 20 or so with a 22 lr. Mainly when the dogs had then bayed up. However. I have killed a few on the run with cci stingers. Inside of 100 yards a body shot WILL end up in a track job. A head shot is perfect.

I think your better off with a tight choked shotgun with turkey loads than a 22lr. IMHO

22lr does a great job with good placement and the right ammo. I have over 20 on my 22lr. I wouldn't use anything other than the CCI Velocitor right now. Click below for a video of one of my 22lr hunts.

It took 2 shots. Where did the 1st shot hit? Ddi it miss the vitals?

It didn't take two. The second was just to end it a little quicker. He wasn't getting up. 1st shot was heart/lung, second was head.

Full turkey loads through a tight choke would be a good choice out to about 40 yds. IMHO

I'll stick with 223 but if I came across one under 100 yards while carrying my 17 HMR with V-Max rounds, I wouldn't hesitate either.

.204 ruger is deadly on yote and fox!! i saw someone even using it on pronghorn antelope out west, dropping them at 500 yards.. 3000+fps seems to confirm speed kills!!

I'm a believer than some animals just don't go down as fast. Dogs being one of them.
