steve863
Thank goodness they do employ biologist, other wise they would make decisions based on social issues.....like they say AR's are. Maybe in the future they can make decisions based on social diseases? The hunters who might have one will be restricted to hunting coyotes ONLY at night, this way they will have less of a chance spreading their diseases by sleeping around. LOL Edited December 21, 2011 by steve863
Doewhacker
Can't help that guys aren't good enough hunters to kill the older bucks..lol.. seriously though the reason for that I think is because hunters want to always play close to the rule... in other words they are still settling for the least that can be taken instead of realizing that there are more 3 and 4 year olds to hunt and hunting them. Unfortunately the 2.5 year olds aren't yet as experienced as the older bucks and will still be the easier ones to kill... AR's have done there job by balancing out the buck herd, now it is up to the hunter to do theirs... kill the deer... and never say never.. say yet... as hunters start to adapt over time the kill numbers will climb. I think it has alot to do with education and field knowledge honestly, I see alot of hunters that can't tell the difference between a 1.5 and so on. Its not rocket science, just deer hunting. Did you read the home work I gave you yet? Pages 42-47 discuss all of this in great detail, agree with it or not, the info the DEC provided seems logical, well thought out and accurate. Studies have shown that for some bizarre reason those effected like repeating the letters A & R. Real strange, ain't it?
nyantler
It is very logical.. and I do agree with it...I especially liked the parts where participation neither dropped or increased in the AR areas and hunter satisfaction is slightly up in those areas as well.. and that most hunters still support AR's in those areas... the thing that I really thought was interesting was that hunters reported that the AR programs have made them more apt to voluntarily pass on younger bucks in non-AR areas... all seems very positive to me. That is stange, did you read anything about those that eat chipmunks and make up tall tales? I heard the stripes on the pelt is what does it, there is a chemical in there that makes you nutty if you eat one.

It's about 2000 pages long so I honestly haven't read it. Hell, I have a hard enough time with Doc's long posts, I couldn't imagine reading that book. Always glad to hear your imput. No, that wasn't us. We have jobs. But your excused for the mistake. You admitted to not being able to see well recently, so it was probably an honest mistake with your impaired vision. Have you gotten those tri-focals yet? Pat Rockets
If ar's showed up, how many bad long shots will be taken at large deer potentially wounding them..how many super ultra aggressive pushes will be taking place , along with more line crossers, and most likely a bow season push starting..think these wont happen? Im assuming with a new ar in place more land owners will put the so to speak "foot" down and state land will fill up quite quickly with "homeless"hunters.. WNYBuckHunter
I dont hear of it happening more in the current AR areas. Why would you think it would start happening, and with ARs in place, why would land owners start kicking people off their property? Just wondering where you are coming from with those statements. WNYBuckHunter
Pat, I guess Im asking it the wrong way for you. 1 - Why would people kick hunters off of their land if ARs were put in place? 2 - The other things you mentioned dont appear to be happening in the current AR areas. Why would they suddenly start happening everywhere else?
Pat Rockets
Only so many doe can be taken, along with more buttons cause of inevitabillity..yahoos will be pushing harder and farther. Availability of hunting locals will become an issue and if the ultimate goal is bigger and better headgear then i foresee a pecking order dictating your take: landowner and friends/and family get first dibs and whoever is left can pick up the scraps..so get your does mounted..unless its state land..then its every man for himself which in my head is a recipie for disaster..my uncle(whom owns the land here) has already stated without hesitation the non friends/family will get the boot if such regulations were to take place..im sure hes not the only
