Ditch the grease stick and use Teflon tape I'd go with .452 300gr xtp all day long in a crush rib sabot. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-xtp-pistol-bullets?searchTerm=Xtp Edited October 16, 2020 by sbuff

Bean, Mack's Prairie Wings, Midway USA, Optics Planet, REI, Scheels, Sportsman's Warehouse, Tackle Warehouse or Walmart; or (B) by the manufacturer of the product (which is selling direct-to-consumers online). I've been trying to find 50 caliber 300 gr, and they aren't available, just 350. Which seems a bit heavy for trying to shoot to 150/200, which is very possible from our raised hunting blind. So a 45 caliber, 300 gr, bullet type HP, .452 diameter Hornady XTP would go nicely with the https://www.harvestermuzzleloading.com/index.php/50-cal-crs/50-cal-crushed-rib-sabot-for-451-452-cal-bullet-pack-qty-50 right? Again I'm sorry for the constant questions but it's all new to me.

I’ve just never had good expansion with them unless you hit big bone.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They would both fit into that 451-452 sabot! Got to imagine 200gr would drop a lot less from 100 to 200? What kind of powder volume are you shooting with those Buckmaster? sbuff
The magnim xtp won't expand at muzzleloader velocities, the standard xtp will for certain.. But as Buckmaster stated he isn't a fan. No hard feelings but I think you'll be hard pressed to find any other bullet that has taken more white tail in north America. 80 to 90gr by volume a good starting point . In most cases more powder isn't needed at all for optimum accuracy.

Regular XTP’s never held together and the mags never expanded, ymmv but I’ve found both .451 “460S&W” options from Barnes to perform perfectly in the 15ish deer I’ve killed with them.Blackhorn’s website shows a 300gn bullet at 1600-2000 FPS at the muzzle hornady data show a working velocity for the 300gn magnums at from 1100-2100fps. Now I don’t put much weight in paper ballistics but they should work in perfectly in a muzzleloader and they haven’t for me and many others. sbuff
As long as neither of us are using power belts life is great !! My personal favorite is the speer deep curl in .452 454 300gr model number 3974. https://www.greentophuntfish.com/speer-deepcurl-hp-reloading-bullet-3974-454-casull-300gr-452-50-box/

Buckmaster7600
So not a good place to sell my leftover PBs?I drilled holes in my leftovers and used them for sinkers! 20 years ago they were one of the best on the market and I killed a lot of deer with them, luckily the market has changed drastically in 20 years! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk OK yet another follow up question from the dummy : You guys have mentioned grains by weight vs grains by volume multiple times. Does that mean you're measuring powder on a scale for higher accuracy vs the slightly variable packing rate of a powder by volume? So 77 grains by weight vs 77 grains by volume is just higher accuracy of measurement? Or are you doing a conversion from volume to weight? Buckmaster7600
I load all my speed loaders with a auto powder dispenser. Never measured them by volume because I already had the dispenser for reloading. a few grains by volume either way won’t effect accuracy enough to matter. If I didn’t have the dispenser I would just measure by volume and not worry about it. Incase you don’t know what a auto powder dispenser is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
