Tannerite Exploding Targets

Anyone else try these? My buddy and I went to our local shooting range out in the sticks with a few lbs of tannerite and my 30-06. We put it out about 100 or so yards and after a couple of shots made contact. It was pretty awesome what guy doesn't like a good explosion right? Well after investigating we saw it left about a 6 inch crater in the ground and a blast radias of 15 feet around. Well before we could get back and mix up some more the sheriffs showed up and said they got a call of an explosion that knocked pictures off the wall. Lol

I have a bunch of it, just havent used any yet. I was thinking of filling up a few stuffed animals that my daughter doesnt want any more lol.

Yep, especially the use of a plastic bag or two of diesel along with the tannerite. Some outstanding fireballs on there!

Its about $35 for 4 lbs. Gander mountain has it on the shelf.

ya that's where I got it from. You can buy it by the lbs or 1/2. going to try some more tomorrow and up the amount to 4lbs. I'll try and post a video.

Don't know if its the same thing but you can buy expoldeing targets from Sportsmans guide cat. in different sizes. A buddie of mine had some we shot off at his camp, pretty big flash & quite a bang, lots of fun!

We put a good size rotten log on top of it and it completely shredded it. We couldn't find a size bigger then a quarter. Video camera was messing up so no video. Still have two more lbs. we'll try again today.

What did the sheriff do when they arrived. Any issues with using the exploding target?

Nothing the guy who runs the place talked to the sheriff. Kinda was left at they didn't see it but don't do it again. I'm sure there is some kind of ticket they could give if they wanted to.

It's legal to use in NY. The only thing they could get you with is if the neighbors are complaining, maybe some kind of disturbance ticket.

Thanks, I had searched under NY gun laws and explosives and found nothing to state that these taegets were legal or not legal to possess. I will clarify with sheriffs office brfore purchasing.

Tannerite falls under the same category as black powder, so if you arent doing anything stupid and destroying public property, nothing to worry about.
