Anyone hunt Howlands island

I never heard of the island so I looked it up and this popped up on my google search.

Lots of hunters there. Wear orange. If I recall you are in the auburn area they’re a lot of other public areas. Although i will say i see a lot less vehicles around montezuma these days. Its worth a scout.

Back in the ‘80s lots of guys I worked with in a factory hunted it , from what I recall it was very food hunting if you knew where to go and got in early . Not much help I know , but they liked hunting there .

I went last year during gun and parked 35 minutes before light, I was waiting until I could see as I'd never been in there before. In those 35 minutes 14 cars came into the parking spot I was in. It was ridiculous. There were headlamps everywhere in the woods. I hunted about 2 hours, never heard a shot and left. There was deer sign, but there's a ton of marsh and if they go out there you aren't getting to them.

Howland’s island is primarily managed for waterfowl it is part of the northern Montezuma wetland complex. That’s not to say there are no deer there
