Ohio Muzzleloader

Has anyone here ever hunted Ohio state land during the muzzleloader season?  Did you have any action?

I've been thinking about trying to get a few days off from work in January and giving it a try?

Im considering it too, I have a customer there who told me hed put me on some good state land spots

I’ve gone three times and hunted private land.  One year, one of our group got a nice 8 pointer.  Otherwise just a couple of does.  But I’ve seen lots of harvest pictures from that same property that were quite impressive.

But I never saw evidence of deer eating what was put out.  And I felt dirty the whole time.

I have bowhunted during Ohio Muzzle Loader Season. With the right weather and property that’s has preferred food sources it can be a great hunt. It’s a way better time for the season than NYs muzzle loader season.
Something to keep in mind are killing possible shed bucks if your shooting antlerless deer at that time. While it wasn’t common in the area I hunted you did see some shed bucks in early January at times.
