  1. No matter how slow the day or the season is I imagine that the buck of a lifetime could be just 3 steps out of sight when I pull the trigger on a squirrel. Personally I will save it for after the deer season closes and then hit them hard.

  2. From everything i've read, yes the deer is legit but was taken illegally and charges filed. That is unless you read the Elite forum which states the guy was fraimed, railroaded, part of some right wing bow industry conspiracy and will be cleared of all unfounded charges in a court of law.. We'll see.

  4. Hey Mossy, Your concerns are valid. Your buddy, as your hunting partner, must take them seriously and address them appropriately. If he chooses to either ignore you or treat you with anything but respect, forget about him. And consider yourself ahead of the game for finding out "how things are", now, before someone gets hurt. If your friend is really someone worth having around your deer camp, he will undoubtedly come through for you here and he will respect you for having the guts to confront him. I've been in your shoes and have seen both outcomes come to fruition. Good luck man.

  5. Took vacation starting Saturday the 3'rd to hunt. Went down to Cattaraugus St Forest (9M) for a half day hunt. Was in the same area opening day and it was solid hunters, I only saw one other car there on Saturday. Saw 2 doe while hunting my way out to the car. Put the new 30-30 to use and now am waiting for a call from the butcher ! Realized two problems with hunting alone, the drag out to the car, and getting the deer on the roof of the car. I've got to get one of those platforms that attaches to your hitch. So nice to have 2 tags left but can hunt in good weather and stay in and watch it rain !

  6. Good for you What a world we live in where two grown men cant have this discussion face to face. This is not a knock on Muzzy since he tried to approach it in the woods. It's just a shame that we rely so much on nonpersonal manners of conversation rather than a real face to face discussion. As evidence by bulletin board bantering, arguing, and debating that happens everywhere.

  8. Did anyone ever think it was the biggest predator of all, MOTHER NATURE. I mean one says dont shoot does the next says dont shoot bucks. In the southern tier the past few winters, you have been hit with some pretty heavy snows. Mother natures way of keeping the population in check. (winter kill) About 15 years ago in the nz you would trip over deer to get to a stand. The next few years things have balanced out. Now you still hear there are no deer. No the reality is there is the right amont of deer for the area (carrying capacity). Hunters tend to get spoiled when there is an over population and hunting is easier, and expect to see deer like that all the time. Look at natural predators also. Yeah almost every doe has two fawns a year. Realisitcally only one survives due to predator influence. Stop knocking yourselves out. Hunters are such a small factor in animal population it is almost not worth mentioning. Do some homework find a nce deer and be happy you did instead of mad you arent seeing deer by the herd every day. Hunting isnt all about shooting something.

  11. my question is how hunters on here can assasinate this mans character on conjecture and hearsay just because they wouldn't do it. The DEC did an investigation and cleared him of all wrong doing. End of story. If it was my character being assasinated on a forum like this I think I would sue the crap out of it. Hope he doesnt see this site.

  12. Like coyote hunting, we love our deer hunting, so no coyote hunting till the end of deer season. There is also the problem of all the hunters walking the woods and most of our properties are off limits till the end of deer season so we just hang up the calls for a couple months. However, we do have one on deck....stay tuned.
