Let me tell you what I would really like to see.....This put to bed once and for all. I practice it myself but do not support it being forced on others. (That is my stance). I would be willing to put it on the line and support a 100% mandatory poll of hunters with future license sales. If the supporters of AR really have the numbers that they are quoting they should realllllly support something like this. if the numbers come in over 50% put it in state wide, if not it is gone.2 points

Earlier you posted that AR's would somehow hurt to keep hunter numbers up or that you won't be able to get new hunters interested.. Well if this is your current condition, is there any wonder hunter numbers are declining? If you can go years without seing a buck, you would think you would be the first in line to sign on to AR's. All i can see from here is that your in a pretty crappy situation. What do you want to do? Nothing and enjoy the wonderful hunting you are now? Or embrace this change and get to experience an improved hunt and herd in a couple short years.2 points

You do realize that there are thousands of buck taken each year that are of good size and age...that ppl don't have a need to advertise to the world and are never seen....Hell why would any one want to advertise their good hunting grounds? Granted that is a well presented chart...with one glaring exception...you neglected to put in bold That the ENTIRE chart is HYPOTHETICAL NYDEC does not ask the age of buck taken...just point #'s and if they are adults....Do you have the data on how many guys butcher their own deer?...how many "deer processors" are never visited and the rarity of jaw aging? I'm not saying I'm against older deer...I pass buck my self...I suppose what I'm against is the band wagon...Well this state and that state are doing it...look at all those trophy's...look what their getting for guided hunts.... leased lands and trophy fees...it has little...I'll refrain from very...just little to do with a healthy heard...I would also think it justifies the $$$ the state lays out for the biologists and studies1 point

I have learned that Robin Hooded arrows are a thing to be avoided. I have had 7 of them and got to the point where I was pulling them apart when possible to save the second arrow. The novelty of the first one or two is great and does look good hanging on the wall. But sooner or later you learn to shoot at individual spots with each arrow. Even ripped up fletching and busted nocks get to be a pain. My thoughts on Robin Hoods is that it is a function of luck. I don't believe that any of my robin hoods occurred exactly dead center in the bullseye which tells me that one arrow accidently got in the way of another. None of them were done "on command" or done on purpose or predicted ahead of time. The only guy that I have ever seen drill one arrow with another on-command was Byron Ferguson, and even he didn't do it on the first attempt. When someone states that he is going to shoot a robin hood and then does it with just a few attempts, then I am really impressed. Otherwise, I see it as simply an accident caused by shooting too many arrows at the same target ..... lol. However, one or two hanging on the wall makes a heck of a conversation piece and will impress the heck out of non-archers.1 point

I decided to cook my first full Turkey in the oven today. It was a jake I took this past Spring. It actually came out really great! I finally was able to get that nice brown skin over the bird that I always wanted to. Usually my dad makes the birds. I just followed the method by this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaKOLGIcMGE&list=PL3D46F9F194CCC888&index=2&feature=plpp_video He has some other great videos on cooking turkey. Don't just use the breasts! (turkey breasts) Nothing like enjoying what you worked so hard to hunt.1 point

I've tried shooting and trapping them. Kill one and 3 more come to the funeral. The only way to stop them is with an electric fence. Go to tractor supply, they have some inexpensive models.1 point

hey the light came on. I have said I forget how many times, if button bucks continue to be killed as they are with an antlerless tag, AR is silly. It is ok to kill it as button buck (basically fawn) but next year as a spike or crotch horn, it has ot walk. More people will just kill them as button bucks. If then never get a chance to grow a set of antlers, they will never get a chance to become a big buck.1 point

We used to play this game we called Knock Knock. It was fun and great practice till It is your arrow that gets robin hood. Get a few guys and draw straws who shoots first. Then each proceeding person tries to hit his. Farthest from the first arrow shot goes first the next round so you try to ruin his arrow for losing the round. We busted alot of Knock, messed up alot of arrows and once in a bloue moon someone would robin hood.1 point

Shoot whatever deer you want. The trophy is in the eye of the beholder. The problem is the too many bucks are killed per yr in NY. License holder should only be able to kill ONE buck per season.1 point

What a blur. Interesting how that camera spooks them. I think i would say he is a 3.5 . He looks a bit spindly and i suppose he could just as easily be a really nice 2.5 but i think he is still in velvet and may put a bit more growth on. Looks like he may be a 9.1 point

I have a story bout such a thing, but it involves squirrels rather than deer... Two fellows were hunting squirrels in the Ozarks..They came around a bend in the trail and met a fellow who was carrying a dozen dead squirrels...He did not have a gun, bow , slingshot or weapon of any type...As they got closer they noticed that the fellow was INCREDIBLY ugly...So ugly he'd have to sneak up on a puddle to get a drink of water... One of the hunters asked " How did you get all them squirrels, Buddy ?" The homely guy said ' I just UGLY 'em to death. I sneak close to 'em and when they get a good look at my face, they just drop over dead.." The hunter asked " Is there anybody else in your family that can do that ? " The ugly guy said " Well, I took my wife squirrel hunting with me a few times but I had to quit bringin' her... She TEARS 'EM UP too bad.."..1 point
