Want the truth, we are a bunch of believe anything our choosen cable news station tells us Dum Dums. If Fox news were to tell you that Canadians are all from Mars you would have a large percentage of the American population believing it.3 points

The America that our forefathers created was the greatest country in the world... what our government is turning it into is not. America is no better off now than when King George was in power... George Washington would be rolling over in his grave from what has happen to this country. The progressive movement will be Americas downfall by moving us back towards what we fought so hard to escape.3 points

The way I see it correct me if I am wrong,But most of the younger generation sat in front of there TV filling there faces and if they were watching hunting programs, would see the giant racks being taken in Texas,Iowa and the other states. When they get to go with one of there parents or who ever, they most likley get frustrated or board, because they are not seeing the deer that they see on TV.And to get to that type of deer around where I live You have to be in very good shape because there are many a steep hill to climb to get to them.It is not the lack of land there is plenty of DEP land around where I live and State land, just that some of it is rough country. No ATV or UTV's allowed. .1 point

I hunted at a preserve when I was 12 for a Boar, it was a blast. I went with a friend and his son for again a Boar hunt, and again, it was a blast. The boars were no different than the ones I hunted in TN. The only difference was their address! Fact is, I have hunted deer around suburbia that were as dumb as a box of rocks until they were educated by me filling tags. As far as a fence goes, who cares? If it's a sizeable partial of land, hunting with or without a fence means nothing, the animals adapt and avoid the hunters . Truth be known, fences are the only way to keep the trespassers out and the concept of management in. I live in PA and have an honest job that pays good. I can't afford to go to Africa to hunt, but I might me able to swing a hunt in Texas. A preserve hunt can afford a guy the opportunity to hunt a species not native to our area. Not everyone has the funds to travel all over the world to hunt, be realistic. If you are hunting a a seriously confined area, that is a canned hunt and should be considered unethical. 300 acres of land with hogs as far as I'm concerned is no different than 1000 acres without a fence. I see guys with guns and scopes setups capable of killing an animal 1,000 yards away. That can be labeled as unfair, but who am I to judge. Should we all be subjected to shooting a rifle only capable of killing an animal at 50 yards and open sites. To each his own. I say go get em, have a good time.1 point

It's unsportsmanlike. Takes all of the skill out of the hunt. Takes unfair advantage. Any boob can shoot deer over bait there is no accomplishment associated with it.1 point

LOL.. I didn't say that the aging is accurate.. just that they check more deer than most people think... some of the DEC folks I've met couldn't age a deer if it had a birth certificate..!!1 point

I believe it was this incident that brought about the body armor drill. I may be wrong though and it may have been that one and some others combined. Anyway, the police at that time were trained to shoot center mass and the body armor defeated their pistol rounds and they just never thought to shoot them in the head. Most of the cops were too far away from the shooters for head shots with a handgun but not all were and those that were close enough shot center mass. Later training taught the body armor drill and also cops were given rifles for patrol so they wouldn't be out gunned like that again.. Joe blow with a 9mm and a bit of competance could defeat the guy. That is joe blow has a chance of defeating him if he tries. If nobody tries then the guy can't be defeated.1 point

This cracks me up. I can not think of one single fault in a landowner enhancing there property with foodplots. Wait........ nope not one. So since we all can read where this is going, please someone enlighten me as to how its different from sitting over an overgrown apple orchard or underneath that mass acorn crop or a trail leading to the farmers corn field. What some see is a man made field of bait, which is no different than that 80 year old planted apple orchard or the farmers crop you might hunt on the edge of your property blah blah blah.. What you are missing are several factors that are blind to some. Such as giving back for taking. Plain enjoyment of seeing animals of all walks utilizing your work, helping animals get through tough winters, time spent with family turning over dirt and watching it grow, pictures of what animals are in your woods. Some hunt over them some dont. I dont and never have. See I also know what some are thinking and that is foodplotters are a lazy bunch and dont want to put time in a stand to harvest a deer and instead bring them to the hunter. Well to that I have to say have you ever put in a food plot? I can promise that its a long hard tedious process that requires alot more labor than sittting in the woods for a hunting season, even at few hours a day for a couple months is alot less labor intensive. And yet we still do just that as well. You add up the time and work putting in a plot on top of the time in the woods hunting you might be rather suprise exacatly how many hours are involved. You see some things in life you dont justify with cost, you justify it with the love of wildlife and the passion to enhance a piece of property.1 point

I know a few guys who have hunted the park o rlive near...heck that guy last year or the year before kept posting pics of the ones at the MM entrance on here...there are some dandies in there. Always laughing about the big deer I see in NT, Cheektowaga, Amherst and Buffalo. All it is IS AGE..... thats why there are not more of them....too many guys shooting the first horned animal they see....and many of them do not shoot does which doubles the debacle CHC-totally agree bud. Yes- I agree! I used to be huge on ARS, and even as my leeter in NYON states- I rather have accurate stats...then we can have some decisions made on what and where. The state has no clue on what lives and dies in most areas. Diversity is huge in this state. 15 yrs ago we could shoot 3/4 does as a group of 5 guys on the family farm..now it is 35 deer (with 5 hunters) with 40000 DMPS being doled out for 8G....thinking someone missed the picture there. It is not that I am anti DEC but I will say it again....they only care about license sales.....1 point

And all this sounds great...but what about the fellow hunters in areas were there are very limited or no doe permits. I keep hearing statewide this and statewide that. My high issue with any of this is. NY have too many varying conditions and habitat to manage on a "state wide basis". Heck sighing the WMU's the conditions and populations vary.herd management is not something we should be painting with a broad brush1 point
