After all the support the company recently got, they plan to occupy Chick-fil-As across the country on Friday for a "National Same Sex Kiss Day" -- a fine juxtaposition of how conservatives and liberals demonstrate their support. Conservatives standing in line and purchasing a product. Liberals occupying private property with the objectives of offending others and preventing commerce. Seems to me the choice for patriotic Americans is quite clear.2 points

I'm not sure how many of you follow it but I want to share something from the Charlie Daniels Soapbox. yes I know its long, but its a good read. Regardless of how you feel about the same-sex marriage issue, whether pro, con or neutral, if you are a freedom loving American you have to be appalled and angry to one degree or another when elected officials denounce an American businessman and his business for having the moral integrity to stand by a deeply held religious belief. I think that Boston Mayor, Thomas Menino, Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, and a few other “progressive” mayors showed the true colors of the left this week when they basically told Chick-fil-A, "If you don't believe the way we do we don't want you in our towns." I think that the encyclopedias should put pictures of Menino, Emanuel and their similarly minded counterparts next to the definitions of hypocrites and cowards, and I don't say that lightly. Muslims don't believe in same-sex marriage either, but have any of the stalwart mayors attacked any Muslims or Muslim businesses or told them they were not welcome in Chicago, Boston or San Francisco? Of course they haven't, they don't have the cajones. They never do. This is the move of a desperate, morally bankrupt, tyrannical political genre realizing they are totally out of touch and distrusted by mainstream America and their only hope is to keep a demanding and ever changing base intact. The big tax, entitlement bunch who use the taxpayer's money to curry favor and buy votes, never minding whose head they step on and now much collateral damage they leave in their wake. Don't look to hear about this in the mainstream media, but from what I hear from around the country, the inane tirades of these city officials had an unequal and opposite effect on Chick-fil-A and the American public, as they have awakened and angered a usually passive middle America who literally turned out by the tens of thousands all over country to show their support for Dan Cathy and the business his family founded by standing in long lines and waiting for open spaces in parking lots, some locations running out of food well before the business day was over. These mayors have done more to identify the enemies of freedom in America than all the speeches at conventions, all the TV and radio ads and all the talking head commentaries put together. They have put a face on a brand of politics that is anti-business, anti-Christian and anti anything else that flies in the face of their socialistic, dictatorial agenda, exposing the supposedly totally tolerant left as the petulant, opportunistic gaggle of milksops who try to draw attention away from the true and important problems they face by making a big deal out of something insignificant. Dan Cathy’s convictions have been known for a long time, he doesn't even allow his brand to open for business on Sunday in accordance with his beliefs in observing the Sabbath, and since his remarks about same-sex marriage do not come as a surprise to anybody with a modicum of gray matter, why all of a sudden are the mayors of major American cities in an uproar about it? Do you think that drawing attention away from the murder rate on the streets of Chicago, that Emanuel doesn't seem capable of doing anything about, have anything to do with it? It's an old political trick that Bill Clinton developed into an art form and Barack Obama's whole 2012 campaign is based on. When you have big problems you can't deal with, you point attention at anything other than your own shortcomings. It's called the tail wagging the dog. But this time they've hit a nerve, walked into a fastball they didn't see coming as hundreds of thousands of Americans went out of their way to show their support and admiration for someone who would stand up for something they believe in and their distaste for out of touch, big city mayors who don't respect anything that don't agree with them. Mr. Emanuel, Mr. Menino and your ilk, let's see you go to a mosque and denounce the Muslim businessmen for their disapproval of same-sex marriage. I double dare you. What do you think? Pray for our troops, and for our county. God Bless America Charlie Daniels2 points

I am joking about the set ups but it makes me wonder why most of the time these shootings happen during an election year. April 1999 - Columbine during an election year - GW Bush became president in 2000 July 1999 - A gunman kills nine people at two brokerages in Atlanta, after apparently killing his wife and two children. He commits suicide five hours later. Also during Bush election campaign November 2004 - Six people are killed when Chai Soua Vang, a 35-year-old Hmong immigrant and naturalized U.S. citizen, shoots eight people while deer hunting east of Birchwood in northern Wisconsin. April 2007 - Virginia Tech Massacre February 2012 - A student opens fire in a cafeteria at Chardon High School in Ohio, killing three students and injuring two others before being arrested. April 2012 - A gunman, identified by police as Korean-American One Goh, kills seven people and wounds three others in a shooting rampage at a Christian college in Oakland. July 2012 - The Arizona shooting and now yesterday's shooting all during election years. Anyone else see a connection?? I know that there are others between election years but most have occurred during election years over the last 20 years.2 points

God created the world and filled it with choices. Good choices and bad. You become what you are as a result of a lifetime of choices. The end result is what God's going to be evaluating when you meet him. Life's simply a test consisting of good deeds and temptations. Some folks choose wisely and always choose the good, others always fall for temptation. Most folks struggle with the choices because they lack faith, or it has been deminished by the lectures from society. Being born gay is one thing, practicing gay sex is another, and promoting gay marriage is the obvious result of the prior two. IMHO it is a death spiral most people haven't got the capacity to envision via extrapolation.2 points

For someone who claims to have researched Joe's opinion from his past posts, it is amazing that you missed how many times he has answered those questions. Maybe you where looking for "joey" and missed them? I am as anti mandatory AR as anyone, but respect Joe's opinion 100 % because he is one of the few that back it up. There is a dynamic to the herd that is missed when doe/buck ratio's and/or normal age ratio's are skewered. And while trying to balance them will result in an increase of the % of larger racked bucks, it does not mean that is the goal for all who support methods to balance both. Nor does it mean that if you support trying to balance those ratio's that you are an AR supportor - as in my case where I feel education and voluntary restraint.1 point

You are right with one difference. When did God say that different races could not marry? He clearly said that people of the same sex could not. If you are a Christian, it's simple. It's a personal choice of wether to believe or not. I'm not perfect, I'm no better than anyone else, and I've done some bad stuff, but I won't apologize for my beliefs. If that makes me an intolerant bigot, so be it. Just because the government or some church gone astray says gays can marry, doesn't mean that God will recognize it. You can force it to be recognized legally as such, but that doesn't change the fact that it is not a marriage.1 point

Elmo, it does affect you. The loss of traditional family values has already created many problems in this land and this will accelerate the problems. What's to stop redefining marriage from progressing to multiple spouses? This could also signal the end of the family unit, which is the keystone to any society. The Left puts out a lot of propaganda about how gay marriage will not be a threat, but if you seek out opinions from the other side, which are never published in the mass media, you will find a lot to be worried about. When anything goes in a society, eventually everything will be gone.1 point

There's always some nut out there who is willing to do anything for attention. Who knows what it takes to set them off, maybe it's the power of suggestion from an outside influence, maybe one in a position of power. You can take the conspiracy stuff as far as you want and I don't think any of it is out of the realm of possibility. Doe, I will take a foil hat in XXL, I almost have to custom order my baseball hats, because I have one big melon. (5 gallon head and a 1 quart brain tho)1 point

Think what you want but I'm not retracting or backtracking from my earlier statement. It makes me and I'm sure many others on this forum and around the country wonder why these mass shootings seem to peak during election years. It also leads me to wonder if they are set up for purposes of increasing gun control. Haven't you read or heard about all the conspiracy theories behind 9/11? I read many different articles and stories about 9/11 and the conspiracies alleged behind them. Do I believe them? No but it made me wonder if they can be true when I read them.1 point

I read it Virgil. He said he was not serious. And so what if he was, he's not alone & he's entitled to his opinion. At least he's got the balls to say it.1 point

I don't think Thug is blaming any one person or group in particular, Virgil. He's just making an observation. It is strange how these tragedies seem to spike in election years.1 point

Well, apparently we can be put into 3 categories of hunters. There is the "meat hunter", a lowly villainous guy who is the scourge of the earth always looking for ways of decimating the deer herd. Then there is "trophy hunter" who never saw a reason for shooting a deer if the rack score wasn't of some particular minimum number. And last there is the "deer benefactor" who apparently doesn't like the meat, only shoots old and toothless deer that are only a few weeks away from a natural death from old age. Yeah that whole paragraph is a bit of a sarcastic description of deer hunters, but the point is that none of us are truly just any one of those. We generally get into using those names only as a prelude to some kind of negative comment in an argument that is escalating toward a set of personal attacks .... lol. The fact is that we usually have a piece of all of those in combination. I don't know too many hunters that don't value the addition of venison to their menu. I also don't know too many that don't appreciate a good buck rack when they are fortunate enough to get one. And we all recognize that we do have to act with some thoughts as to adequate herd management to allow the realization of the first two attitudes. Unfortunately, the controversy of AR can be defended or attacked using these bogus hunter characterizations as criteria. Three different points of view ..... all the ingredients for yet another of our many divisive controversies. The good news is that it all makes for some rather lively forum fodder.1 point

If those are decent I would love to see the good deer around there!!1 point

The liberals are already calling for the melting of all guns. It's just so interesting how these shootings are happening just before election time.1 point

Here we go again.. I think these mass shootings are all set up by the antis so they can muster support from the publc to ban firearms.1 point

I'm saying the left has an in your face attitude about anyone that doesn't agree with them. It's rude, intolerant of other's opinions and borderline illegal. I find it interesting they wish to boycott Chick-Fil-A because it's owners support traditional family values, but they continue to buy gasoline, which is made from Arab oil. The Arabs put homosexuals to death. The Left (Liberals, Progressives, Democrats, etc.) isn't tolerant in general, as they want to ban a lot of traditional things, like guns, free speech they don't like and religion. They're just tolerant of a lot of things most Americans find vulgar. BTW: The owners of Chick-Fil-A never refused to serve anyone or hire them either. They just supported a traditonal family values organization and confirmed it to a reporter. That's free speech in my opinion and boycotting them for it is Un-American.1 point

I know Charlie hasnt officially done his big reveal yet, but I can spell it out according to his theory, and the D&DH calendar for 2012. The Autumnal Equinox for this year falls on Sept 22, making the rutting moon October 29. According to Charlie's theory, we should start seeing light seeking starting around th 24-25th of October. The seeking should escalate to full chase phase around the 30-31st of October. The breeding phase should start the following week, right around the 6-7th of November and should be finished up by the 17-18th, then the second rut should be into seeking/chase phase. Looks to me like the second half of bow should be killer this year!1 point

I would rather have our 14 and 15 years olds with archery equipment in their hands Columbus day weekend. Let's not loose sight of teaching the youth how to bow hunt. They will have plenty of time to shoot the woods up when regular season rolls along. How about a special youth archery season?1 point
