So today I had a stat run out to Oneida extended care. Usual routes typically get to places like that in the evening when all the residents are in eating or sleeping. I ran into two WWII vets, one was a medic / corpsman, and the other saw action in the Pacific. Then, some nice eye candy downtown Canastota, but the point is it was kind of cool spending a few minutes with those guys.

Taken with a modified air force condor and a 35 grain pellet. Called in from my back field. iirc the range was right around 50 yds, head shot. It was one of those freezing rain days so he looks a little scraggly, but actually was a beautiful pelt

I finally finished up tanning the hide of my 6'5" gator from last fall. Its only a quick cell phone pic, but I thought you might enjoy!

Oh come on now..... the DUMBEST thing he could have done would have been to NOT skin it and try to fill it up like a water balloon hooked up to a garden hose,lol

Uncharted waters here folks........................17 yo daughter going to movie with "boyfriend". She wanted him to come over and watch Netflixs and I said no. I'm nervous as hell about it and don't know how to handle it. IIRC he is 2 years older, a past classmate. What scares me is my memory is still pretty good and I remember how I was at 17, 19 or EVEN 13. This is difficult stuff for me........at this point probably the toughest yet. I know I'll be fine and more importantly so will she............... Kids...........I thought things would get easier as they got older!

There is an absolute desire, by supporters of Islam in America, to be able to point to violent events perpetrated by non-Muslims, as evidence there are more terrorists acts carried out by others. This leads to racist acts, such as this latest one, being desperately labelled as a terrorist act. The fallacy in this argument is in the ideology of the attacker. This kid was a racist that felt blacks were harming America and the white race. It was a racially motivated mass murder. There have been similar cases where blacks have attacked groups of whites, which are also not terrorists acts, but racially motivated ones. Radical Islamist terrorist attacks carried out on American soil, or even American friendly soil, against Americans and our friends, are always done with hatred of America in mind. Those radical Islamists want ALL Americans dead, not just certain ones, or certain races. Their attacks are against everyone and anyone they can kill. They do not target specific races, segments or genders of Americans in their attacks. And they do it to instill fear of Islam and use it to gain power. They are at war with America and are part of a huge group of radicals. It's organized and political. Terrorism's goal is to instill fear. Racism in America has no ability to instill fear in those it hates, it can only act out violently because of the hatred. What I expect to see coming in the near future is a government attempt to label this act "domestic terrorism" and couple that with a push for more control. The targets of that control will be American gun owners and anyone unfriendly to this administration's leftist, progressive agenda. The people Obama and the Left want labelled as "terrorists". It's a classic example of misdirection to achieve a goal, because there will not be a corresponding higher level of scrutiny of foreign terrorists. There will be a higher level of scrutiny turned inward on certain American citizens though. Ask yourself why the TSA spends the majority of it's time dealing with average people, when they could be profiling like the Israeli's do. They are much more effective in stopping terrorist threats and use far fewer agents to do it. Of course their agents are not just people picked up off the inner city streets that vote for Leftists and need jobs. I firmly believe this administration, as well as half of the US population, believes America is threatened more by some of it's own citizens, than it is by foreigners who want us all dead.

I saw the episode with B.G. and the snake skin too. NASTY! I'd rather die of thirst and give the vultures something to chew on!

He's also proven to be fake. Some of the scenes are staged. Les Stroud is the real bad ass because he does it by himself. No camera crew or anything. That's why Bear Grylles is more popular. Les won't do the stupid stuff that Bear does because he'll die but the general public who has no knowledge of this wants to see someone pee into a snake skin.

You are more than welcome to come out to our branch's events, though I know its a bit of a drive for you. Theres a branch out in the Buffalo Niagara Falls area that is trying to get going as well. IMO the biggest issue with the QDMA in this state has been that it was not run very well at a state level in the past, and the branches that have been around have pretty much been on their own. The state advisory counsil has been built and funding to drive it is on the way. Things will fall in place alot better now with the new regional director and state advisory council. NY's membership is growing, there are new branches forming and older ones getting fired back up. Its gonna take a little time, but the organization is growing in NY. Some of the NY branches have been spreading the word for members and others to be active and voice their opinions to the DEC on the proposals. Thats about all that can be done with those at this point. As dbhunter said, the NY branches and state council has been pretty active with pushing the new poaching regs along. dbhunter, the QDMA is highly active with things down in PA.

2 Saturdays ago a few of us were fishing at squaw island and a buddy caught a 35" 14lb walleye on his first cast the emerald shinner didn't even hit the bottom before the walleye nailed it. The fish was huge.

Seems like an easy way to generate revenue with no real loss besides three or four moose a year. Great for a bankrupt state that's already exhausted next years income. Think I'm low balling but 3 to 4 thousand applicants. 20 dollars per lottery.. 10-15 tags given out... Quick 60-80k in the till. Only 3-4 dead moose to show for it.

I had a kind of funny thought when I saw it. After hunting gators for a few years, when they first showed some of the dinosaurs I was sizing up the tail meat...

I believe the main difference between a hunter and a photographer would be that the hunter plays an active role in conservation... not just in his contributions through the purchasing of his license, but in other things such as upkeep of habitat, population control, etc. Hunting may not be for everyone but hunting builds an awareness of wildlife that can be missed by other ways of enjoying wildlife. Not to mention... I enjoy can enjoy both hunting and photographing wildlife... double the fun. I think it's like the old adage, " If I have to explain... you wouldn't understand."

My daughter is 20. I have lived by the motto "keep your friends close and your enemies closer". The only way you are gonna get to know him is to have him around. And better yet that is a perfect way for him to get to know the crazy side of you.
