  1. A couple of years ago my youngest son started to show interest in riding motorcycles (I ride an old Kawasaki). I told him I'd look for one for him. He's a new rider. We agreed it had to be safe, reliable and somewhat cool. "Right up my alley" I'm thinking. Enter a 1983 Kawasaki KZ440 LTD D5 into the show. Story and pics to follow.

  2. My Neighbor took care of doing my Euro mount. He wanted to try a type of way of doing it with a constant temperature but changing out the water. It took three weeks and one week in peroxide. Love the end product. He used an aquarium heater to keep the temps the same.

  3. I have done quite a bit of fishing in the Erie-Barge canal between Rome and Oneida lake, my main target was mostly Carp but I also caught good numbers of Walleyes, Small Mouth Bass, White Bass and Crappie and I ate them. Were they safe?, I do not know for sure but they tasted good and I am still around. Al

  4. We saw a dog running away when we were heading into the second stand of the night. It disappeared over a hill, so we kept going, but we decided to split up to cover more ground. This dog came right between the fields we set up in and I had to wait till it got into a safe area for me to fire. Medium sized female.

  7. I see now that most of the bucks at the Brownsville Maine feed station have dropped their antlers, there are only two or three that still have them. With all the snow melting this week it should prime for shed hunters. Al

  8. We'd moved to a new place in March '23. I brought the bike home in April. If I didn't have a new garage this project wasn't happening. Built a bike lift out of scraps, strapped it down and off we went.

  9. There's tons of small lakes and streams in the ADK's, and plenty of remote ponds. The Siamese Ponds Wilderness has a lot of small lakes and ponds that you need to hike to get too. The other side of the road is West Canada Lake Wilderness which hold even more. I would suggest figuring out where it is you'd like to go and take things from there. A few tips: Don't count on a lean-to. Pick up a couple of small packing tents to sleep in or a three person tent. Sharing a lean-to with strangers sort of sucks. Make sure the tent will allow you to stow your gear. You're going to need a bear canister, it's actually a regulation if you are in the Eastern High Peaks area from April-November. At minimum, if not in this area a bear bag for food. Read up on how to sue and set one up. They don't just keep your food from bears, but raccoons and other scavengers. Ice out and snow melt brings a lot of flooding up there, and at times trails can be impassible and or dangerous (even the flat ones). Keep that in mind. Flash flooding up there's no joke. Remember, May starts the black fly season and it runs until August. Sharing camp with those little bastads sucks more then sharing a lean-to.

  10. I might suggest the St. Regis canoe area. Yes you will need a canoe, but you can rent them, along with other gear. Very good fishing for brook trout in the early (ice out) season. Check with the DEC Region 5 website, and that can get you started. There will be a phone number that can get you to their fisheries biologist.
