I order reloading components online on a regular basis. Just got a bunch of bullets the other day. There is nothing in there.

wtf my daughters school telling her hunting is bad

X2, don't forget anti-law enforcement. -
I agree. Those things aren't needed for the basic reloader. Basic reloading and Precision reloading are two very different things. I do both. My reloading procedures and equipment are different for my very accurate rifles that require very precise ammunition. The average guy would be well served with the basic kits that are out there.

Get yourself a couple books. Hornady,Lyman,Speer,Nosler,Sierra,Berger, any of those. There is even a book out called the ABC's of reloading. I recommend RCBS products, very well made and their guarantee is second to none. What to get depends on what you will be reloading. What do you plan to load?

If I never go to the city again, it will be too soon.

Very nice video hunts, and great looking decoys.

That's why I would rather actually talk. I bet if we actually spoke, instead of typed, we would actually come to a agreement on the shotgun vs rifle accuracy thing......
-
Exactly, that's what I have been trying to say.
-
Shawnhu, yes of course that has happened before, to many people, including myself before I knew any better. The bottom line is, don't have your COAL so long that the bullet is into the rifling.
-
Oh boy. This is why I don't like to post much. Trying to help the guy but with the internet postings things get confused. The way he is doing it, the lands are pushing the bullet into the case when he chambers a EMPTY case. If he were to keep that long OAL and LOAD a LIVE round, the lands could grip the bullet and on extraction and leave the chamber full of powder with the bullet stuck in the lands. I really hate posting, talking is much more understandable.
-
When you take a bullet and seat it long in a empty case, and chamber it. You are jamming the bullet into the lands to seat it. That is a hard jam. If you load a round like that and need to eject a unfired round, the bullet can get stuck in the lands on the eject, resulting in a chamber full of powder. Just touching is a different story. That is what I recommended.
-
How about doing that with a loaded round. Nice chamber full of powder. That's why a hard jam is not recommended in a hunting rifle.
-
Yup, that will work. The only problem with that is, the way you are doing it, you are actually jamming the bullet into the lands. You don't want a hard jam, especially with a hunting rifle. You want to just barely touch the lands, as that usually yields best accuracy. Take a sharpie and mark the ogive of the bullet and keep seating it down till you don't see or barely see the rifling marks. I use tools similar to Lawdwaz which makes life easier, but it can be done without.
-
How did you determine your seating depth?

5.45x39 Is too small of a round to hunt whitetail with, correct?
pistolp71 replied to LiveFree1776's topic in Deer Hunting
The .223 and 6mm Rem are nothing alike. And to answer the original question, IMO, the round is marginal. Would it work with the right bullet and shot placement, sure. But why? There are many outstanding deer cartridges out there and that isn't one of them. -

That's just plain stupid. -

Unless you are trying to make soup, you really need to get a tumbler...

Yes, I was just out with mine last week.

Lol, no, before my time.

I guess these days.. I remember not all that long ago, getting them for $75 per 1000.
-
To be perfectly clear. It's the manufacturing number for the STRIPPER CLIP itself.
-
It's just a manufacturing number. They were made in PA. I've never seen them on .223 before. Usually military 5.56. Which I hope everyone knows is slightly different. GGG ASSY 11010483 is Keystone Stamping Works. Coyote Hunter, I don't know if you saw my earlier post, but its not a new way of boxing them. It's a stripper clip, designed for speed loading the magazine.
