  1. Italian dressing, montreal steak seasoning, garlic powder. 4-5 hours.
  2. Good for you, enjoy. Good job finding him.
  3. Yes, they are ballistic tips(nosler) not ballistic rounds. Perfectly legal.
  4. I just bought ammo from PA Cabelas, no problem. How did they even know they were from NY?
  5. Venison jerky, apples and water.
  6. I feel the same way. I don't care if I get anything up there. I just love it. The one from last night is about the same as the other one, maybe more mass. Not a great pics. I have the other one on both my cams. Once in daylight. Haven't had much time to hunt. I'll be out tomorrow for a few hours. Good luck to you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You too Geno. Can't wait, I need a break from the island. Although another giant on my cam from last night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Heading up to Delaware County, Meredith on Fri afternoon. Anybody else in the area? Good luck to you all.
  9. Depends how far off the road or pole the cabin is. My cabin I built in Delaware County is about 200 yards off the road. The Delaware county electric company put in one pole and connected it for free. I dug a trench with direct burial wire the rest of the way. It was a few hundred dollars for the material.
  10. That 7 Rem Mag is a belted case. I load for that as well. Familiarize yourself with that. I don't want to confuse you because you are just starting. But the short of it is, you want to size your cases to headspace off the shoulder and not the belt. Make sure you separate the brass that was fired from your gun and the brass that wasn't. I would also buy a neck sizing die.
  11. I've been reloading for almost 30 years. I recommend RCBS products. The few times I've have problems, they always back it up, no questions asked. Great customer service. Get yourself a couple of good manuals. When you are reloading, try to do it without any distractions as you are dealing with serious stuff. Follow the data the books tell you. As a rule, start low and work your way up. Everyones chambers and guns are different. It's not hard. Components are tough to come by right now but hopefully they will come around soon. Good luck, I find it very rewarding.
  12. Yes, within the distance Doc referenced to, there wouldn't be that much difference. But why limit yourself if you don't have to? I don't know anybody in their right mind who would hunt with a shotgun in a rifle county. And accuracy, as a general rule is much better in a rifle. I guarantee nobodys shotgun will outshoot any of my rifes. And its not only energy that kills. You can shoot a whitetail with a .460 Rigby through the lungs and hell just run off. Its hydrostatic shock that puts them down quick. Speed(which a slug doesn't have) and the RIGHT bullet is what you need. I don't have the time or energy to argue though. Doc, good luck with whatever you choose.
  13. I know they are much better than they were 20 years ago when I used slugs. I shoot those sabots with about the same ballistics out of my .50 muzzleloader But, even the best slugs/sabots out there just don't compare to a.270. And accuracy? Not even close.
  14. You asked about the reaction. DRT. The rifle will give you a lot more hydrostatic shock and that's what puts them right down. A slug doesn't compare. A slow 1 ounce hunk of lead to a 3200 fps rifle bullet Cant remember the last time I had to track a rifle kill. Not to mention the accuracy advantage..
  15. EXACTLY! Same people arguing all the time. I think he needs a time out.
  16. That sucks, it happens. BTW, I'm convinced the tail thing means nothing. I've seen deer shot perfect run away tail up and die, and have also seen then run tail down and live. All you can do if the rain washed the blood, is not give up and look like crazy. Good luck.
  17. Congrats Geno! Great buck and a great shot. Good job!
  18. Keep putting in that seat time Geno. Good luck. I've hunted a total of a hour and a half this season on the island. Work and family stuff is killing me this year.
  19. That is a bruiser, look how thick he is. Great buck whatever he is. Good luck.
  20. Great bull, congrats! I can't wait to go out there. Gonna check out that outfitter.
  21. Mbucks27, you must be talking about Kenny. Cane corsos are the dogs. Those things will kill you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  22. East Meredith, on my way now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  23. Lol, I have a plan, don't worry. Now is not the time to pressure him. Besides, even if I don't see a single deer, I love it up there!
  24. I'll be up in Delaware in a few hours. Cant wait
