  1. I go for a softer bark tree or pine tree. Something the teeth can really dig into.
  2. should go back down to newbie for posting in the wrong topic though. :-[ my bad.
  3. Was wondering when I was going to move up in the ranks lol.
  4. I like to move around a lot during the season so I use a climber. I've got the summit and it weighs in around 18lbs and comes with straps to carry it like a book bag. Not going to lie though I've been scared a few times on certain trees. Dropping 3 inches 20ft up sure wakes me up.
  5. I have one and love it. I ended up having it installed at a shop. Your going to want to use the felt padding though otherwise the drop away arm hits a little loud. Very accurate though and quiet if set up right and has the pads.
  6. Started out really good hitting all the 3d shoots and shooting everyday till about the end of july. I need to have my bow restrung and just haven't had 75 bucks to throw into it right now.
  7. I've got the exact opposite delema. I know what I want just need to squirrel away some money. I've been looking at the bushnell scout 1000arc. Lots of good reviews and some really cool features. That you may want need or just like to say you have.
  8. I have the Diamond Iceman. It was one of the high end bows when it came out I paid around 750 for it but i'm sure it's a lot cheaper now. Really fast and quiet. I agree with everyone though shoot a bunch then buy. The big things is a lot of guys become loyal to a brand name and thats all they ever shoot. I've had 4 bows in the last 4 years and every bow was different. First bow was an old browning that broke opening day my first year bow hunting. Then a pse, fred bear and now my bowtech. Each bow was my favorite till i got the next one.
  9. Regardless of where you are it's my understanding you have to carry your license.
  10. It has all the information your paper license has on the back. You don't have to carry your paper if you have the plastic one. I only carry the tags i'm hunting for at a time so my wallet isn't overflowing. Replacement fee is 5 bucks same as your paper license. Ya it's not a necessity but it's a nice to get something from a state that normally gives you the s#@t end of the stick if anything at all.
  11. Pretty much it lol. That and it will hold up better when it goes through the washer.
  12. because of the ethanol i always mix in seafoam to keep everything cleaned out and lubricated. Especially in chainsaws and weedeaters.
  13. I don't understand why 2nd choice for 9g is low but non-resident 1st choice is high. Shouldn't non-residents just get what's left over?
  14. hate to stir the pot but i can't resist. DEPENDS ON IF I'M SHOOTING MY COMPOUND OR MY CROSSBOW!
  15. I use the current state of our gov't to my advantage. Everytime I buy a gun or camping gear, camo and fishing stuff etc etc I tell the misses I'm just preparing for the apocalyspe. Or a zombie outbreak.
  16. My brother was shot and killed on thanksgiving day many many years ago by one of his bestfriends. And this year on a deer drive this kid with a semi-auto shotgun and no scope blew off about 5 rounds before he reloaded and shot 3 more times. Two bullets came so close to me I could hear the zipping noise of the bullets. Both incidents happened during deer drives. This is the only time i'm paranoid. I'm much happier when i'm in my treestand 25 ft off the ground and when I know everyone else in the area is in theirs.
  17. Does anyone know the statistics on the distance of hunting accidents. Most stories i've heard are that some guy was walking through the bush without orange and his buddy shot him at fairly close distance or the guy falls or drops his gun while walking with his buddy and the gun goes off or a guy shooting himself while getting out of his treestand. I can't think of a time I heard a guy get shot from 1oo's of yards away.
  18. i've all but given up on the .22lr since i've got the .17hmr. I shot a squirrel at 100yards with it. as far as losing meat they're so accurate that a head shot is all but too easy. I've got the sweet 17 scope and always aims true for me.
  19. instead of a .22 mag just my opinion but if you've already got a .22 I don't think you'd gain much. My personel opinion is go with a .17hmr. I bought one and I love it. I haven't shot my .22 since. I've used it for squirrel and woodchuck. I shot a red squirrel from 100 yards away. As my son as my witness. I'd try it on coyote but i'm in love with my ar-15 and I have to justify buying it to the misses. You'd be surprised what you can do with a .17
  20. First of all nice work on your gun. Too bad you couldn't keep the stock original but I really like the green too. I have a westernfield model 550k pump shotgun that was given to me by my dad. I have no idea other then it is pre 1968 because it has no serial number and its made by mossberg. Anyways the stock is in really nice shape but the barrel went awhile with out any tlc so its pitted to where oil doesn't cover it up. I'd really like to re-blue it but i've heard some nasty stuff about the chemicals used to refinish it. How much work and time does it take to do this? And not to hi-jack your thread but does anyone know anything about this gun?
