  1. This is literally FAKE News. A Google search shows no such thing as "The Center for Population Research" or any Upstate New York study like the one that is mentioned in the "article". The publisher lists no links or searchable source, and most of the articles on their website are clickbait nonsense. Please, check your sources, just because something supports your opinion or views doesn't mean that it is right, or should be influencing others. If I'm wrong, please share the sources and I will stand corrected, but if I'm right, this is part of the polution spread by social media. The website literally says "Satire You Can Trust." The problem is people who agree with things will glance right past that and take this as "news".
  2. They look great! Easy to see you're a fan of the "sneak" pose
  3. That's a handsome pup. Congratulations!
  4. I heard this on the radio this morning. I had to hear it twice to make sure I heard correctly. A very sad event.
  5. Still working today, but will probably have to get my daughter from daycare early today. It's rain in the Saratoga area right now, but any untreated surfaces are a sheet of ice. It's supposed to change over to snow this afternoon, 2-5 inches. Most all of the local schools are closed.
  6. Come on, that's being a bit shrewd.
  7. That is one of the most nerve wracking videos I've seen for a while. I was just waiting for that thing to let loose. Impressive none the less.
  8. I used to want the latest and greatest when I was in my early twenties and had money to blow on that kind of stuff. I sold most of my equipment when I went to grad school, and just kept my old High Country, probably from the early to mid '90s. My last season of hunting with it I took 3 deer (my all time high was 9 with that bow and 2 with a shotgun). I haven't hunted with it in almost 5 years, since I moved to NYS. I really debated on getting something different for this year, as it's my first year of getting back into hunting since moving up here. I ended up getting a 2007 Bowtech. I'm sure that High Country will kill deer just as well as the Bowtech, and I'll probably end up taking them both out at different points this year. I would say that a bow that was effective 20 years ago, will still be effective today. Sure, higher speeds can help with deer ducking the string or maybe extend your range a little bit, but if you practice and hunt well, quality equipment is effective regardless of it's age, as long as it's being used by an effective user.
  9. You'll want a long season indeterminate soybean variety. This will continue to produce later into the season vs maturing after seed fill. I'm not an expert on forage beans, though I know there are companies that produce them. I used to sell seed beans back in Illinois, mostly Asgrow, HiSoy and some LG. However, most everything for agricultural production are determinate varieties because you want them to mature and dry down in the field.
  10. No to mention that the guy he shot...apologized to him! It's a crazy world.
  11. Also, your title is misleading, putting dogs in black face is not politically correct these days
  12. Thanks, I was kind or wondering about the need to cook it completely. That would be a rough lesson to learn
  13. What an interesting post, thank you! Just out of curiosity, how do you cook it?
  14. One of my dad's buddies had one, it was a fantastic squirrel dog. I'm not sure of temperament, I only went out with it a couple of times, and it was strictly a hunting dog.
  15. I love it, it anchors just like my old High Country, so not really a big adjustment on form for me. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for asking. I've kind of gotten into my head with it a little bit though. Bowtech has the timing dots on the cams, and mine is off by one dot from the factory specs. It shoots fine, but I'll probably be taking it in to get that corrected at some point.
  16. Good looking knife. Not really in my budget right now, but seems like a solid deal for someone. Good luck!
  17. I think we are arguing different things here. I see what you're saying in that it puts the onus on the "shootee" vs putting the responsibility on the "shooter". In that, you are totally correct, and yes, I agree that if all hunters were to obey the the rules of firearm safety, then there would be no need for anyone to wear orange. However, and I kind of think that you are in agreement, since we know that not every shooter does follow those rules, it is worth it for a potential "shootee" to take precautions, mandated or not.
  18. Hey, I'm a good driver, but I still wear my seat belt in case a driver playing with their cellphone crosses the center line and hits me head on. Sure, it wouldn't be my fault, but maybe my state mandated precautionary actions would keep me alive. If research shows that wearing orange or pink cuts down on shooting incidents and makes hunting a safer sport, then I'm so for it. Of course I am a radical leftist who is in full support of the nanny-state (Sorry Rattler, I can't help myself.)
  19. This is fantastic news. However, it would be great to see those numbers at 0. Still, a great reflection of the consciousness and commitment to safety of NY sportsmen and sportswomen.
