Look, this global cooling has got to come to a halt. It's time for all of us to step outside and empty a few aerosol cans into the air. Let's get those greenhouse gases cranking. I'm cold!

I expect a lot of things to be done in the name of unified fighting of invasive gun laws that punish the innocent. However, none of those things should include companies putting themselves out of business. I really don't see what is accomplished by that.

It's pretty funny how important it is to so many people that mountain lions be seen in NYS. What is that all about? What is it that makes us want to see them here so bad? Likewise, I don't understand spending a whole lot of time and effort de-bunking these claims. The only thing that will be noteworthy about all of this is if or when we read the headlines about the DEC planning on introducing them. If you ever see that news story, it will be time to go crazy fighting that kind of an act. Other than that, people can see whatever they want to see it doesn't bother me a bit. I simply nod my head and give out a few H-M-m-m-m's and uh-huh's and maybe a wow or two and then change the subject.

Want to know where your money is going?
Doc replied to growalot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yes that is confusing isn't it? -
What I noticed about Schumer's response was that there was absolutely no mention of the bulk of material that gun owners found objectionable. Where did he hide his position on so-called "assault weapons"? Where was a statement of his position on any planned ammunition harrassments for law abiding gun owners. He not so cleverly responded to a letter regarding future gun controls with no real discussion of future gun controls. The guy is a slippery snake, but not really all that talented with making it not very obvious. The guy really does think his constituents are all idiots.

ekp- Sorry about the semi-rough reception to your first topic. People don't understand that there are new members appearing here everyday, and this may often result in duplicate threads. It happens. No harm - no foul. But anyway, let me suggest an alternate suggestion. Rather than trying to take out our rath about gun legislation on a state department that has had no part in this legislation (DEC), why not target specifically those that have caused this nonsense to become law ..... The politicians that voted in favor of this piece of crap law. It's time to dog them suckers. bury them in e-mails and letters. Let them know that their vote for this law has cost them your vote. Work hard to get them defeated in teh next election. Just before the elections, fill the editorial page with reminders about their positive vote for this legislation. Re-submit more e-mails and letters and phone calls reminding them that they lost you vote and spurred you on towork against their re-election. And then after you have done all the public damage that a person can to their campaign, follow through and vote for their opposition. Oh, and by the way, even if you deem their opposition to be even worse, vote for the opposition. The act is to punish those that have voted for this law. first you tell them what you are going to do, and then you do it. If even most of us were to do that, I believe that we would have an impact on the election, and a valuable lesson will have been learned by anyone thinking of voting for anti-gun legislation.

I think I can understand their position. If you read through a lot of threads on this forum you begin to sense all the confusion and mis-interpretations that are going on among all of us. I can see where they needed some time to figure out how to comply with the new law and avoid being shut out of NYS completely via legal sanctions through inadvertant violations. The one thing that no one seems to be talking about is bullet components. Are these things such as brass, primers, etc. being treated as ammunition or not? I haven't seen a word about these kinds of products anywhere. I'm almost afraid to ask any officials for fear that theymay recognize it as a loophole that needs closing ..... lol.
-
That is exactly the root of our power. Make them fear that they are losing votes. It's the only thing that impacts their decisions. We may be a minority, but a voting minority that votes as a unified block is a very scary thing to a politician.

Here is an interesting response from Schumer. Doesn't this kind of sound like he is shaking your hand while he stabs you in the back. We know from his voting record that he is a much more hardline anti-gunner than he is letting on in this response. These guys are good ..... lol. Thank you for contacting me regarding gun control legislation. Like you, I believe the right to bear arms is guaranteed by the Constitution’s Second Amendment. The recent Supreme Court decisions reinforced this fact, but I believed that this was the case prior to those decisions. While I certainly respect the Second Amendment to the Constitution, I believe that we have a collective interest in keeping guns out of the hands of those who want to harm the innocent. I believe it is possible to strike a reasonable balance. I have long advocated for faster and more accurate background checks so legal purchasers can receive their guns quickly while ensuring criminals do not illegally purchase and possess firearms. In 2011, I proposed S. 436, the Fix Gun Checks Act to provide more funding to states to compile required background data for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). This legislation builds on the National Rifle Association-supported NICS Improvements Amendment Act, passed by Congress in 2007. Ensuring that this information is comprehensive and up to date will protect law enforcement from criminals with illegally obtained weapons while speeding up the process for purchasing legal firearms. You may also be pleased to know that I have successfully fought to create new opportunities for law abiding citizens to exercise their right to use guns. For example, in the 109th Congress, I secured federal money to expand the scarce hunting grounds in New York State by creating a financial incentive for private landowners to allow hunters access to their property. Thank you for contacting me about this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can ever be of assistance to you on this, or any other matter. Sincerely, Charles E. Schumer United States Senator Please do not respond to this email. To send another message please visit my website at https://schumer.sena...ntact_chuck.cfm . Thank you.

This is how it happens

I realize how screwed up and unreliable the media is, but taking them at their word, they didn't mention anything about semi auto or replica. -
Well one thing that takes it out of the hands of the politicians is to fight it in the courts. Look for that from the NRA. In the meantime lets fight the battle that is in front of us ..... the Obama gun-grab. Let's not drag our feet on this one.

A tommy-gun? ..... Really? .... This guy had a tommy gun? For crying out loud, do you know what kinds of stringent background checks and red-tape that are required for possession of a fully automatic weapon? If he got that gun through the system, then back ground checks are a joke. If he got it through other means, then that just shows you that anybody can get anything regardless of what their background is. if you cannot keep full-auto weapons out teh hands of the insane, then you can't keep anything out of their hands. -
Well, one thing that I think we all learned about is how fast Albany can pass legislation when they want to shove something down our throats without adequate discussion and public input. Give those cfreeps credit for having taken us to the cleaners with their dirty tactics. But let's apply that old saying, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". This all happened so fast that even the NRA got caught up short. This "slip it to them before they know what hit them" tactic worked very well. It all points out the fact that any letter writing you intend to do can not be put off until "tomorrow". These suckers could be shoving legislation through before your letters ever get to your Representatives if you procrastinate. That's why it is important to keep a document on your hard-drive that lists names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of your State Senator, State Assemblyman, federal senators and congressmen. When the issue is made clear, waste no time getting those letters, phone calls, and emails out. Another good idea is to follow up this new law with letters of thanks to those who voted in our favor, and also letters to those who voted for it explaining how their decision will be remembered during the next election. And by the way people we are not done yet. There is still a federal activity involving heavy gun restrictions coming from our buddy, Obama. We have U.S. Senators and Congressmen to contact. Keep the heat on. The job ain't done yet!

I think you have got to get control of yourself, and take these forums for what they are. You seem to have a problem conversing with just about everybody. Lighten up bud. Life's way to short to be running around seeing how many enemies you can collect. If the members here send you into such a mental convulsion, maybe it is a good idea to take a bit of a break. It can't hurt.

Meat has a smell. It smells like meat ...... it's unique and doesn't smell like anything else. Rotten meat also has a distinctive smell, and you ain't going to like it if and when you ever smell it. I'll admit that once someone puts the suggestion in your head, all of a sudden you will be smelling all kinds of things, but believe me, if the meat is bad, you won't have to be asking about it. 55 degrees for a couple hours while butchering is not going to make the meat go bad.

This sure wouldn't be a good night to lose electricity.

What the hell is going on here? My gosh, you seem bent on making as many enemies as possible. Do you have some personal stake in all this that makes you such an unpleasant sort. Read some of your replies here and tell me if this whole subject is worth telling someone they make you sick and posting reply after reply that simply is designed to be as ugly as you can make them. Come-on, get yourself under control and keep these discussions with a little bit of perspective. There is no need to get all in a lather and act completely out of control. Nobody is your enemy here, and there really is no need to see how aggressive and offensive you can be. You don't agree with what is being said here, simply say so in an intelligent and non-aggressive way and let it go for crying out loud.

Be careful of using just the zip code for identification of your State Senator and assemblyman. The voting districts do not follow zip codes. A better way to go is to access the Senate and Assembly pages where they have representaive finders that use your entire address. http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/?sh=search State Assemblyman search by address http://www.nysenate.gov/ State Senator search by address -
Ok, I was listening to this gentleman bringing up just about all the points that we have brought up here. All good points and really un-arguable, just like when they were brought up here. And yet the madness continues. And yet the anti-gun people ignore all that and carry on with their campaign to justify this worthless legislation. So I have to ask, doesn't this all show that the opposition really doesn't care about real solutions to gun violence (or any other kinds of violence)? Doesn't all this determined willful ignorance show that there is a political agenda that is quite separate from the mass murders of those children other than simply using them as a catalyst to advance their anti-2nd Amendment agenda. These people are just blood-sucking carrion eaters that have been patiently biding their time for the next opportunity. They have used those deaths simply as a convenient tool to push gun elimination legislation.

I'm afraid there are an awful lot of people here that might actually send in e-mails and letters, but simply don't know who represents them. If that is your situation, get on the internet and make it today's mission to figure out who your state and federal representaves are and create a document on your hard-drive with names addresses, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc. It's important that you are ready to communicate. -
Who wants Yearling Buck Protection with ARs in their area?
Doc replied to Meat Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Of course that assumes you have a buck tag left. A lot of people will take a buck when the opportunity presents itself, leaving them with only antlerless permits left.- 320 replies

Look, at this point it really doesn't matter what was used. The antis already had their minds made up that they were going to use this event for their crusade against those evil looking "assault rifles". The guy could have been in there with a Saturday Night Special (remember that term ...lol), and the Cuomo bill would have come out with exactly the same wording and restrictions. And it would have been crammed through the law-making process at record speed. And it would have been signed by Cuomo on the same day that it turned out that he signed it. Now the issue is how do we get rid of it. Let's get focused on that now.
