  1. When I last went to the NYS Fair I was just a young critter at the time (in my early 30's). I'll tell you how long ago it was ...... We attended a Willie Nelson concert and he hasn't been on tour in a lot of years. Even way back then, I remember that it was a lot bigger than I could comfortably endure. It was all great fun and kind of exciting and awful huge. I do remember a real lack of shade and places to sit down to recuperate. Fortunately the temperature s supposed to be a lot nicer that the 90's that I had to endure back then. But even though it was absolutely exhausting, I would recommend it to everyone. It was a great time!
  2. One gets a whole different perspective when you are on vacation and a pocket full of freshly withdrawn money in your wallet. I don't place much stock in those kinds of assessments. Some of the most magnificent looking places happen to also have high unemployment rates, or low wages. Yes when you are on vacation, every place looks better than home....lol. Those that have actually lived in different places have a better base of comparison. But even at that what may have been a great place to live when you were younger may not meet your needs when you get older. So it is very hard to make a complete comparison, don't you think?
  3. And what makes you jump to that silly conclusion? There really is no connection between where you choose to live and how much you travel.
  4. No, I'm afraid you really don't get it. Trump is displaying that there is no relationship between golf and actually doing your job effectively. You libs are determined to concoct issues that really don't exist, but you are not all that difficult to see through. Your braying and whining are still recognized as a bad case of being sore losers, but the obvious fact still embarrassingly remains that you are still losers.
  5. Or maybe he was just recognizing that Obama was only golfing and not really doing the nation's work at the same time. Although for me, I wish Obama had spent all of his time golfing. We wouldn't have such a mess today.
  6. Or it could be that we are just living a full, satisfying life right here in NYS and not always eyeballing the greener grass on the other side of the fence. You can spend whole lifetimes dreaming about and chasing after utopia, but for me the right place to live is in the center of family and lifelong friends regardless of where that happens to be.
  7. So, is this a cost efficient way to get a recurve? What do the numbers say?
  8. I'm just saying that simply because some yokel comes on here and brays about every whiney, picky, gotcha that they think they have found from who-knows-where, does not make it fact anymore than when Papist does it. Apparently you people do admire Papist's posts because you lefties are doing your best to emulate him with the same kinds of posts. Part two: And even if your stats did somehow have some credibility, where is it written that the President is not allowed whatever amount of time that it takes to de-compress. As far as I am concerned, he is getting the country's business properly taken care of and deserves some recreational time. And what he does with the meager amount of time required to regroup against all of the roadblocks that the libs (Democrats) are throwing up with their anti-U.S. obstructionism of the government is perfectly justified. Presidents have been golfing for decades ...... so what? Relax guys and go find something that really warrants criticism. You're starting to get silly now.
  9. Now I see how easy it is for the mainstream media to get away with their campaign of smear and fake news. You people are all reacting to what some forum member is touting as fact. Back off people and don't believe every stat that you read on a forum. Enemies of Trump (or any political figure) are very eager to stretch the truth and even make up any stat that will seem to support their politics.
  10. Actually, I have noted a lot of leaf turning in August in years past. Many of the more stressed trees really get colored up in August. And this year, the weather has been stressful on a lot of the growing things, trees included.
  11. Anybody know where to get those eclipse glasses?
  12. You know, I think I can negotiate a heavy snow storm, or simply ignore the occasional one a whole lot easier that some of those Florida hurricanes. In fact even the stinking heat and humidity of the south would keep me clutching the air conditioner inside the house instead of being outdoor playing in the woods. My one trip to Florida had me bored with the dead flat terrain and had me constantly staring at the ground scanning the area ahead for snakes, and I never did feel comfortable walking anywhere but well mowed lawn and pavement. No, I think I prefer the occasional snow storm. It sure does beat hurricanes, earthquakes and tornados. Sure enough we have our share of pain-in-the-butt weather, but most of it doesn't blow our houses down, or pick them up in the air and smash them to the ground, or shake them apart, or bury them up to the eaves in water.
  13. I went once back in the 70's. There's nothing there for me. But then, this old country boy was definitely out of place there, and I have no idea how I got convinced to go ... lol.
  14. With so many years in this state under my belt, I guess I must be pretty happy with NYS. I never had any desire to leave. I think I would have a heck of a time finding my great lifestyle anywhere else. Now if we could just straighten up the politics in this state, everything would be perfect ..... lol.
  15. Yes, that is an excellent question! This Russian collusion investigation has been going on with one agency or entity after another for an awful long time with millions of dollars and many man-months invested and not one scintilla of evidence of collusion uncovered. So exactly what are these mythical crimes that Trump has committed. I wonder if this "wrangler" guy would care to list all the damning evidence that any of the investigations have turned up. No, I am not expecting that he will reply now that his baseless nonsense has been called out. He is simply yet another pawn of the left and the mainstream media outlets, parroting back the fake news that he is being fed.
  16. Actually, I am in-shape. Isn't round a shape?
  17. Actually, I do not put the trigger at any "joint". I use the pad of my index finger-tip. That is where I have the most sensitivity and control. It's exactly the same as I use for triggering a gun.
  18. Ha-ha-ha ..... what a difference. Back then you had to earn the right to hunt, and now you have to beg kids to hunt. Oh well.....
  19. So, I wonder how many other critters he bit and transferred the disease to before they got him.
  20. Other than a statue of Saddam Hussein, I cannot recall any time when we made defeated countries tear down historical statues. And as I recall even Hussein's statue was destroyed by Iraqis, and not at the demand of the U.S. So why do we want to treat defeated regions of the current U.S. with more humiliation that we afford other countries?
  21. Is there a bear harvest report by township like they have for deer?
  22. Some times those stinkers really don't seem to pay attention to anything. Are they really that confident that nothing will mess with them? I've had them walk up to me like they were blind as a bat. Fortunately when I made some crazy arm waves and spoke up they have always waddled off the other way. However, each one of these close encounters of the stinky kind always remind me of what great carriers of rabies skunks are. So I give them the respect that is due.
  23. No. And I have to say that I have not heard of anyone having that long-lasting of a reaction. But then, they may call me Doc, but I really am not a member of the medical profession .... lol. I guess the question really is, "is it getting any better from one day to the next. That is what I generally base my decision on when I am trying to decide whether a doctor's visit is required.
  24. Living in Ontario County, I always considered us part of "Western New York". Also I have consider the southern part of Ontario County to be part of what they refer to as the "Southern Tier", And by golly I believe we are also part of the "Finger Lakes Area". But I have no idea whether I am referring to my own home area correctly because there really is no credible source of definition of these areas. No it is not some Earth-shattering disaster if I am using these terms incorrectly, but it does kind of go against the grain to simply blurt out these ambiguous terms without having the slightest clue as to whether you are using the terms correctly.
  25. So now many states including our own are discussing whether or not to eliminate references to the Confederacy. So what do you think? Should we engage in a campaign of purifying history to remove things that we aren't all that proud of? Does it really serve any purpose at all to sanitize our history and eliminate all reminders of a time in history that we should all learn from? Would that not be like going to European countries, demanding that they eliminate all references to the Holocaust? As a matter of fact, that is what these Neo-Nazis do everyday when they deny the existence of the Holocaust, isn't it? It is all the same mindset of sanitizing history. So what do you all think? Is there truly a justification to tearing down statues and worrying about anything that reminds us of our civil war. Should we engage in cleansing history so that we feel better about our past?
